Being Prime Minister is about making the difficult decisions in the national interest.
If we keep acting like it’s a popularity contest, we will keep getting Prime Ministers who know how to get elected, but don’t know how to govern.
I manage a coffee shop. Yesterday, a guy came in for an interview. He was homeless. I could smell it before I saw him. His shirt was stained, his hair was matted, but he had shaved his face clean. He handed me a resume that was wet at the corners. "I'm a hard worker," he said. "I just need a chance. I can wash dishes. I can take out trash. I'll stay in the back." Customers were staring. My boss (the owner) walked out. He looked at the guy. "We don't have a dishwasher position," my boss said. The guy's shoulders slumped. He nodded and turned to leave. "We have a Front of House Manager position," my boss continued. The guy stopped. "Sir, look at me. I can't be in the front." "Not in that shirt, you can't," my boss said. "Go next door to the department store. Buy a shirt, a tie, and some slacks. Put it on my tab. Then come back here and start training. You have kind eyes. I can teach you to make coffee. I can't teach kindness." That was six months ago. That "homeless guy" is now our best employee. He knows every regular's name. He’s not homeless anymore. Sometimes people don’t need a handout. They need a uniform and a belief that they belong in it.

@sainsburys I had an order in to be delivered between 10am and 11am today. At 1145 I decided to ring to see how much longer I need to wait as I appreciate weather but to be told I won’t get my order today!!! No one had contacted me and I’ve been waiting all morning! Unacceptable
If you work, they tax you more. If you save, they tax you more. If you buy a home, they tax you MORE.
Starmer’s choices are suffocating our economy and his weak excuses are wearing thin. It’s always someone else’s fault.
Britain deserves a government with a plan and backbone.
Said this before but I’ll say it again. Just one lifetime ago in the UK, our grandfathers could buy a home, buy a car, have 3 to 4 children, wives could stay home, take annual vacations, and then retire… all on one middle-class salary. What happened?
We had same day GP, ambulances within minutes, dentists, good education, decent public transport, clean river and beaches. So AGAIN WTF happened?
@cleckylad I tell you what the problem is we are being made to have them. A loyalty card and where you chose to shop is called a choice. There is the difference. Some of us don’t want to shop online at Amazon. Some of us don’t have loyalty cards.
£8 for a jar of coffee
£12 for bottle of olive oil
£20 spent on just two items of food.
UK supermarket food prices are out of control. Everyone is saying the same thing.
