NIGERIA CUSTOMS SERVICE RECRUITMENT: WE DEMAND JUSTICE FOR ALL SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES! Nigeria Customs Service

It is unfortunate that some candidates whose names were officially published in national newspapers as successful applicants in the Nigeria Customs Service recruitment exercise are reportedly being excluded from training and appointment.

There are serious allegations that some qualified candidates have been replaced by individuals with influential connections, including people who allegedly never applied for the positions.

Must you be the son or daughter of an influential person before securing employment in Nigeria? What happens to the children of ordinary Nigerians?

Although the Comptroller-General of Customs reportedly addressed 13 protesting applicants and introduced an online complaint platform, we demand concrete action, not just promises.

We call on the Public Complaints Commission, Federal Character Commission, relevant Senate committees, and other responsible authorities to urgently investigate these allegations and ensure that all genuinely successful candidates receive fair treatment and their rightful appointments.

If immediate action is not taken, we will announce a date for peaceful nationwide protests involving concerned Nigerian youths to demand justice for the affected applicants.

Recruitment into public institutions must be based on merit, fairness, and transparency, not family connections or political influence.

No Nigerian is bigger or better than another Nigerian. The children of ordinary Nigerians deserve the same opportunities as the children of the rich and powerful.

WE DEMAND JUSTICE, NOT FAVOURITISM!

NIGERIA CUSTOMS SERVICE RECRUITMENT: WE DEMAND JUSTICE, TRANSPARENCY, AND FAIR TREATMENT FOR ALL SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES

NIGERIA CUSTOMS SERVICE RECRUITMENT: WE DEMAND JUSTICE, TRANSPARENCY, AND FAIR TREATMENT FOR ALL SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES

No Nigerian is bigger or better than another Nigerian. Every citizen deserves equal opportunities, fairness, and justice, regardless of family background, political connections, or social status.

The ongoing controversy surrounding the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Nigeria Customs Service recruitment exercise has raised serious concerns about transparency, fairness, and accountability in public service recruitment.

It is deeply disturbing that some candidates whose names were officially published in national newspapers as successful applicants are reportedly being excluded from training and appointment processes.

This situation raises several important questions: Why would candidates who successfully completed the recruitment process and had their names officially published suddenly be omitted from the final training and appointment arrangements? Who authorized these changes, and on what grounds?

There are also allegations that some successful candidates may have been replaced by individuals with influential connections, including persons who allegedly never participated in the original recruitment exercise.

If these allegations are true, they represent a serious injustice against hardworking Nigerian youths who followed the proper recruitment procedures and patiently waited for their appointments.

Must you be the son or daughter of an influential person before you can secure employment in your own country? What happens to the children of ordinary Nigerians who have no political connections or powerful relatives?

We acknowledge reports that the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service has addressed the concerns raised by 13 protesting applicants and that an online complaint platform has been introduced.

However, we strongly believe that creating a complaint platform alone is not enough. Applicants deserve concrete action, transparent investigations, clear explanations, and a definite timeline for resolving their grievances.

The affected candidates must not be silenced with promises that produce no meaningful results.

We therefore call on the Public Complaints Commission, Federal Character Commission, National Assembly committees responsible for Customs oversight, and all relevant anti-corruption and recruitment oversight agencies to urgently investigate these allegations.

We demand that:

1. All candidates whose names were officially published as successful applicants be properly accounted for and their recruitment status verified.

2. Every candidate who legitimately qualified and fulfilled the recruitment requirements be given the appointment and training opportunities to which they are entitled.

3. Any alleged replacement of qualified candidates with politically connected or otherwise favoured individuals be independently investigated.

4. The Nigeria Customs Service publicly explain the discrepancies between the published lists of successful candidates and those invited for training.

5. Any official found responsible for recruitment manipulation, favouritism, or abuse of office be held accountable in accordance with the law.

We are tired of a system where the children of ordinary Nigerians appear to be treated differently from the children of influential individuals.

We are therefore calling on Nigerian youths, civil society organizations, human rights advocates, and concerned citizens to stand in solidarity with all affected applicants.

If urgent and meaningful action is not taken, we will announce a date for peaceful, lawful, and coordinated nationwide protests to demand justice for the affected candidates.

BREAKING: The victims of the sham recruitment process by NCS staged a protest in Abuja earlier today.

The protesters, who gathered on Monday, October 26, accused the NCS of unfair treatment and called for transparency, accountability and justice in the recruitment process.

The aggrieved applicants demanded immediate reinstatement of the affected candidates, claiming that they had completed all stages of the recruitment process, including documentation and screening in Abuja.

The protesters also stated that they obtained official medical and NDLEA clearance results, challenging the reasons for their disqualification.

The applicants also questioned the decision to disqualify candidates after issuing provisional appointment offers, claiming that the process had caused unnecessary distress and dashed the hopes of thousands of Nigerians looking for work.

Some applicants removed from recruitment list tried to use backdoor channels

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says some applicants complaining about its recruitment list were removed from the process for allegedly trying to use backdoor channels to secure recruitment.

Only one person has total control of the recruitment, how?

[Mal. Imran U. Wakili (PULLO) 👑 #iSTANDWITHELRUFAI @IU_Wakilii]

My people, observe with me.

First of all, why is he addressing these concerns in Hausa? Because he knows the people they cheated, he has to talk to them directly. And yet again, he can't address a single one of the questions we are asking.

Secondly, when he was talking about age discrepancies, the interviewer asked him that if they went to investigate, they would find that all the candidates in the training school are below 30. He avoided the question and refused to answer it.

Thirdly, when the interviewer asked him why a significant percentage of the people they published in their initial list were saying they didn't even know the names of the people in the training school because they are not in the list, he also dodged the question by saying that if anybody thinks injustice was meted out to them, they should bring their complaints and they would listen. Meanwhile, a lot of them have been going to your office, and you promised to address their complaints but did nothing!

Fourthly, my very important questions that I need answers to are,

Who are those currently in the training school? Why are their names not published, just as you published the names of the people you scammed? Where are they from? How many slots did you give each state? Why didn't you carry the FCC along in the recruitment process, when the Nigerian Constitution provides for them to monitor and observe, and enforce of federal character principles in public service appointments?

And in this interview, you mentioned on two different occasions that you reached out to them, and it's true, you sent emails, except when it was time to publish their names. For everything else, it was through email.

Why is it so difficult for you to individually tell the applicants why you disqualified them? Are you afraid that they may find out the truth and challenge your decisions?

Because, like I said yesterday, I know more than five people who are physically fit, have no discrepancies in their documents, and are not drug users, yet the Customs still disqualified them.

[Abubakar Musa Maikeffi @12Maikeffi]

Custom Recruitment| About 570,000+ applicants applied for the job but the agency said it has only 3,700+ slots. The agency also said that, some applicants were medically tested and found with Hepatitis B and other sickness that's why their were disqualified.
