ADIC Christopher Raia attended a press conference in Houston, TX, to announce Operation Gatekeeper. Alongside @FBIWFO, FBI New York assisted Houston DOC and HSI Dallas in disrupting an alleged illegal network that smuggled restricted technology to China. By relabeling shipping packages, these actors allegedly created a backdoor to provide an adversarial nation with advanced technology used in artificial intelligence applications and high-performance computing to advance China’s Civil-Military fusion efforts.

Following an investigation by FBI New York and @SDNYnews, Nigel Trenh was arrested in Los Angeles in connection with a bomb hoax that resulted in the evacuation of a college dormitory in New York in August. Trenh allegedly published an anonymous post on social media warning of a bomb and active shooter on campus. When law enforcement officers from multiple agencies arrived on the scene, the sweep ultimately confirmed that the post was a hoax.

This past Thursday, Marcus Pittman pleaded guilty to discharging a firearm and causing a death through the use of a firearm in connection with the kidnapping, robbery, and murder of a marijuana dealer in July 2024.
“With five other defendants, Marcus Pittman orchestrated a kidnapping and armed robbery of two local marijuana dealers before executing a restrained captive in the back of a U-Haul,” stated FBI Assistant Director in Charge Raia. “Pittman demonstrated an utter disregard for human life by shooting a defenseless rival in cold blood. May today’s plea send a message that the FBI and our law enforcement partners will hold accountable anyone who travels to our city to wage unnecessary violence and death.”
