Oct 7 update on water restoration
Workers are making tremendous progress on waterline repairs. The North Fork 36-in water bypass is expected to be reconnected within 72 hrs. Sediment levels must go down before water is drawn. The Mills River Water Plant is fully operational.
News Release—The NPS will reopen US 441/Newfound Gap Road by 8 a.m. tomorrow (Wednesday) to allow for access between TN and NC communities.
Once US 441 reopens, all major roads and trails on the TN-side of park are open.
