Director Vishal Chaturvedi didn't hold back in a recent podcast, revealing the uphill battle of his film #HanumanAnsh. Despite a tiny ₹2cr budget, the film is now outperforming bigger titles in its 4th week!

The struggle was real:
❌ Multiplexes (PVRInox/Cinepolis) were skeptical.
❌ Screens dropped from 250 to just 25.
❌ Big players ignored his pleas for support.

But the audience spoke louder than the industry. The power of word-of-mouth! 🗣️🔥

The irony? Once the box office numbers climbed, the same people who ignored him started calling to congratulate him. Chaturvedi’s take: many in the industry give "gyaan" without actually knowing what works.

He distinguishes between two types of filmmakers: those with genuine passion and those who are just "trying it out." A brutal but necessary reality check for the current state of cinema.

This is a classic story that highlights a systemic issue in the Indian film industry: the obsession with "star power" over "story power."

The fact that a ₹2cr film can outpace a massive production like Toxic proves that the audience is fatigued by formulaic big-budget films and is craving authentic storytelling. This is IMPORTANT... #MirzapurTheMovie doesn't feel like a stretched-out episode of the series... IT FEELS LIKE A FILM – larger, louder, and far more cinematic, while retaining the raw flavour, attitude, and spirit that made the web series a phenomenon.

The biggest strength is the writing [Puneet Krishna] – sharp, crisp, and loaded with punchlines... Power struggles, revenge, betrayal, and emotions are woven together smartly, ensuring the narrative never loses its grip.

Every confrontation crackles with tension, every exchange carries attitude, and several dialogues are certain to find their way into conversations outside the cinema hall.

Director Gurmmeet Singh handles the material with confidence, striking the right balance between drama, action, humour, and emotion without diluting the core DNA of #Mirzapur.

Action has always been integral to the #Mirzapur universe and the action here is raw, brutal, and massy... The big-screen treatment adds scale, intensity, and impact, with several whistle-worthy moments.

There's not much scope for music here, and the few songs – including #SansonKiMala – are seamlessly woven into the narrative... The background score, however, is BEYOND OUTSTANDING – it not only elevates the impact of key moments, but takes the overall cinematic experience several notches higher.

Negatives? Yes, the film dips towards the beginning of the second half... But, thankfully, the entire pre-climax-to-climax stretch, shot against the breathtaking sand dunes of #Jaisalmer, leaves you completely awestruck.

The second half also feels slightly stretched and could've certainly benefitted from some trimming... That said, the ending between #GudduPandit [#AliFazal] and #MunnaTripathi [#Divyenndu] is hilarious – while also dropping a clear hint that the next chapter in the #Mirzapur universe is already on the cards.

The actors bring the swagger, menace, vulnerability and intensity that the #Mirzapur universe demands.

The film boasts a massive ensemble cast, and every performer leaves you thoroughly impressed with their impeccable work... #PankajTripathi [exceptional], #RaviKishan [outstanding], #AliFazal [fantastic], #Divyenndu [excellent], #JitendraKumar [superb], #AbhishekBanerjee [too good], #MohitMalik [first-rate], #RajeshTailang [wonderful], #PramodPathak [super], and #SushantSingh [flawless] – every actor gets his moments and leaves a lasting impression.

#RasikaDugal has an interesting part – and there's a twist – and she shines... #SonalChauhan does well, #SheebaChaddha is pitch-perfect as always, while #ShriyaPilgaonkar is competent.

Final word? Razor-sharp writing, killer dialogues, superb performances, high-voltage drama, and explosive action make this a treat for #Mirzapur fans – and a thoroughly engaging, crowd-pleasing ride even for those who haven't watched the series.
