It's a new week, the last one this month and we want to highlight the last 5 weeks.
On February 17, we launched 'Welcome to the kleptolands' a film series premised on spotlighting the impact of kleptocracy in Central Africa. We launched parallel the #AUEUSummit#Kleptoland
Patrice Tlhopane Motsepe is the most corrupt and incompetent CAF president in the history of African football. I really thought he had some dignity. What an embarrassment he is to Africa! To think that there are people who want this fraud to be a president of South African!
It is a real shame to see Patrice Motsepe’s reputation being shredded over this shameful and embarrassing decision by Confederation of African Football. This has taken African football years backwards.
Matches are decided on the pitch, not in boardrooms. Even when referees make mistakes, their decisions are final, and that is part of the game’s integrity.
This kind of interference only reinforces the long-held disrespect towards the Africa Cup of Nations by some European managers, who have consistently trashed the tournament and, at times, refused to release players. Instead of protecting and elevating African football, CAF has handed its critics ammunition to undermine it further.
“For now, our football is in an elite, trickle-down mode, outward-oriented, hooked to European leagues, with very little dripping down to develop the communities where our football stars are born and bred.”
An oil tanker suffered an explosion off the coast of Iraq, damaging a tank that is losing water, a representative for the ship said.
The Sonangol Namibe was approached by a small boat near Khor Al Zubair in Iraq, according to Sonangol Marine Services. A short time later a loud bang was heard and the crew said the ship is losing water from a ballast tank, a compartment designed to help with the vessel’s stability.
The company said there are no reports of any pollution and there was no cargo on board. A UK Naval group earlier reported that oil was seen in the water nearby.
Iran’s IRIB News reported an oil tanker was struck early Thursday by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Navy. It didn’t identify the vessel.
The incident with the Sonangol Namibe marks one of the farthest reaches where vessels have been targeted since the war began, expanding its reach deep into the Persian Gulf. It’s also the largest tanker to be hit.
It follows a strike on a container ship in the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday and hits on other vessels in the area as the Middle East conflict enters its sixth day.

#Angola: The finance ministry has confirmed it will continue to cut fuel subsidies this year. The process began in 2023 when it cut support for gasoline by 40%. Since then, the diesel subsidy has been removed completely (since March this year). https://t.co/S3eowidL0x

Beginning April 1, 2025, the Namibian Government will require U.S. citizen tourists to obtain a visa prior to entering the country. Visitors are recommended to apply for their visa in advance of planned travel through Namibia’s online visa on arrival portal: https://t.co/tXhiRS7B09 . Visitors using this online visa application system must carry a hard copy of their approval notice when they travel.
Visitors arriving in Windhoek, Walvis Bay, or entering at high volume border crossing points (e.g., Katima Mulilo, Ngoma) will also have the option of purchasing a tourist visa upon arrival at the respective airport or border crossing point. Namibia’s visa on arrival system is new and implementation details are subject to change.
