Man was put in the garden to 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤.

Because of sin, work for man then, became cursed. That is, it now takes serious effort and the overcoming of obstacles to produce something from our work.

As sin creates a cursed work for man, it will also tempt a man to be lazy and avoid it; or take a prideful approach to it.

You either can’t stand the thought of being out-worked, or you’ll just go to the extreme opposite and avoid work all together. You’ll avoid hard work out of some fear of being outworked, uncomfortable or failing, and the perceived embarrassment that comes from it.

A prideful man will criticize the work of others to boost their image over others. A prideful man will manipulate their resume to sound better than others. And under the weight of sin, a prideful man is, under the surface, insecure.

A lazy man, just wants relief. He’ll try to find comfort in things like spending, substances or sexuality that do more to satisfy his flesh, than sanctify his spirit.

A lazy man wants to be rescued from work, rather than strengthened for it. In his flesh, a lazy man doesn’t want to work, he just wants the results.

A lazy man is silent about what God said. And in shame, a lazy man hides from God to avoid the accountability for his actions. While a prideful man will behave like he doesn’t need God, and thereby receive the same result of walking out life, out of alignment with his created purpose to be in relationship with Him.

And isn’t it something, that the source of power, to overcome the power of sin that tempts man to be lazy or prideful, comes from the gift of salvation that is in Christ Jesus ~ alone. A gift… you can’t… 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 for.
