Two Gr 8 LDSB students trying to be #changemakers in the Kingston community collecting and donating feminine hygiene products to women & girls living in poverty

Yesterday, we delivered all our care packages, 4 shelters; Kingston Youth Shelter, Kingston Home Base, St Vincent de Paul and Kingston Interval House. An outcome with almost 6000 products donated and couldn’t have made this amazing impact without the support from our community!

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated and supported our project. We have tallied up all our totals and came out with a total of approximately 5335 items! Next week we will be donating the items to four different shelters across Kingston!

We would like to thank the @AwesomeKingston trustees for such an amazing opportunity, inviting us to pitch our project at their pitch party! This amazing experience allowed us to meet so many great ppl who can help us further our project and collect more items for women in need!

Update: Our drop boxes will be picked up this week, since our project is coming to end (except for K-town City Hall's drop box which will stay until Friday) We'll be assembling our care pkgs soon and will notify everyone on how many products collected, Thx 4 everyones donations!

Schools in New York State will now be required to provide free menstrual products in restrooms for girls in grades 6 through 12.

Menstrual products are as necessary as toilet paper and soap, but can be one expense too many for struggling families.

Women & girls w/o access to hygiene products are often forced to use cotton balls, socks, toilet paper or newspaper. Others miss school/work because they're without sanitary products. #ygk help us change this outcome by donating items, help us be #changemakers
