My biggest question with the DA is always: who benefits? When public infrastructure and services move into private hands, ordinary South Africans need to know who is getting the contracts, who owns these companies and who ultimately benefits.

When you vote for a government. You vote so it can provide services for you. To have a party that wants to be in government so it can hand over the provision of services to the private sector is disgraceful.

We have not received the full report of what is happening at UCT between the Vice-Chancellor and the University Council.

However, once we start hearing of secret investigations and secret reports, we are inclined to instinctively side with the VC, Prof Mosa Moshabela.

We have seen this movie before. When the powers that be want to victimise and remove a Black Vice-Chancellor, they start by defaming their character.

Former Council Chairperson, Babalwa Ngonyama, and Vice-Chancellor, Prof Mamokgethi Phakeng, were victims of these witch-hunts.

We will process the matter through Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Higher Education.
