REIN IN THE PAIN.
Today at the Durban July, activist @NirvanaNokwe didn’t just wear a dress.
She wore the truth.
While the crowds cheer, racehorses suffer in silence.
It’s time to change that.

@CityPowerJhb@CityPowerJhb block 10 is still off. What is the status please? 90 minutes to anther 4:30 hours of loadshedding taking us to 24 hours down!!
@CityPowerJhb@CityPowerJhb do you have an ETA? This went down 8pm yesterday. We go into 4 hours of loadshedding in 90 minutes to take us to 24 hours no power. No excuse.
@CityPowerJhb All well and good. But when a 79 year old lady who has NEVER defaulted on a single payment in 55 years has to wait 3-5 days for a simple fault to be remedied, what then?
@mailandguardian We have awesome people. That’s one part. How do you get awesome people to effect influence over national policy? How do we get the influential, energetic youth to have a real effect? We need to have a system that creates accountability for failure. And it seems votes are the way
@mailandguardian Empowering the media is a key requirement. The real issue in South Africa is accountability. Where are the results of the campaign promises? All parties!
@mailandguardian It’s private sector all on their own. Pvt security. Pvt power. Pvt retirement arrangements. That’s the double tax. And correct, the Pvt sector incentivises govt to complacency. But if they don’t, then they become vulnerable. Catch 22.
@mailandguardian Ultimately the private sector will solve issues for themselves. Perhaps to the detriment of the tax base. And the poor will pay the highest price.
@CityPowerJhb@CityPowerJhb@Abramjee So, new news. The city power truck offered to fix the fault for a ‘call out’ fee of R1500. Now it takes bribes to get a NINE DAY power outage fixed. You should really look into this.
