The inclusion of the Manusmriti in NCERT textbooks raises profound constitutional concerns and question of sociological impact.
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar fundamentally rejected Manusmriti, viewing it as a deeply oppressive framework that gave religious sanction to caste-based discrimination, untouchability, and the subjugation of women. Babasaheb had argued in Annihilation of Caste, the Manusmriti is not a mere collection of rules; it is a psychological and social structure designed to legitimise hierarchy, untouchability and perpetuate graded inequality.
Diametrically opposed to the Manusmriti, the Constitution of India, drafted by Babasaheb, represents a decisive and radical departure from the discriminatory and exclusionary social philosophy of Manusmriti. Grounded in constitutional morality, the Constitution is a deliberate commitment to liberty, equality, fraternity, and individual dignity. It fundamentally replaced birth-based privilege with citizenship rights, hierarchy with equality before the law, and inherited discrimination with a robust framework for social justice.
In India, the Manusmriti's legacy of graded inequality and untouchability remains deeply embedded in customary practices that the nation still struggles to dismantle. In a country where the overwhelming majority belongs to historically marginalised communities and half the population comprises women, education must serve as an instrument of emancipation, scientific temper, and egalitarian values. Introducing this text into school curricula will normalise a philosophy inherently tied to caste and gender oppression, directly undermining the vision of Babasaheb and supporting the regressive and casteist vision of Savarkar and Golwalkar.
India’s classrooms must cultivate critical inquiry and social justice, not revive exclusionary doctrine of Manu, which is endorsed by RSS. The moral compass of our education system must remain the Constitution, and not the regressive, anti-India text Manusmriti.
🇮🇳Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not be attending Ali Khamenei's funeral in Iran.
Bihar Governor Syed Ata Hasnain & Union Minister Pabitra Margherita will represent India instead.
India's relationship with Iran is as old as the Indus Valley civilization, but Modi couldn't take out the time to join the final rites of a leader who was killed in a war crime.
This is the same man who went running to Israel for a made-up medal.
@Hamza_naeemm@chuzixo Look bruh .... this shit is not unique to Indians. It's a South Asian thing! I've always had the best experience with Pakistanis despite the hate you see from most online. Lets all just chill.
@MummadiSri@soutikBBC The entire process at every level is designed to ensure that you fail!! And reenter your data of multiple pages at least 10 times and resend docs!! Ughhhh ...
One of the most interesting speeches I’ve come across: Afghanistan’s late president, Najibullah asked in the 80s why so many foreign Arab fighters traveled to Afghanistan for jihad when Palestine was right next door.
@elonmusk Elon lies almost constantly here. Whoever hasn't figured this out yet are the absolute fools of America and the world. Elon is responsible for almost a million deaths so far, and it's projected 14 million by the year 2030.
@Followed_you9@BBCWorld The Mughals literally preserved and created an incredible social fabric of syncretic Indian culture that deserves to be cherished. Sanghi chuthyas will never understand it because they are too busy trying to find their little weenies.
@BBCWorld "In the early 19th century, James Tod, an East India Company official and antiquarian, borrowed a large number of these reports and failed to return them when he left for Britain in 1823." .... BBC!!!
Borrowed and failed to return = He stole it!!!
What this means is that the jury verdict that determined that @realDonaldTrump had sexually abused my friend E. Jean Carroll by penetrating her vagina with his fingers, and therefore had defamed her by denying that he had done so, will stand as a final and conclusive judgment.
The highly respected district judge who tried the case, the Hon. Lewis A. Kaplan, correctly stated multiple times that the jury's finding of sexual abuse under New York law meant that, in common parlance and under the law of most jurisdictions, Donald Trump was found to have raped E. Jean.
So henceforth and forever more, it will be completely accurate—and utterly inactionable under the common and constitutional law of defamation—to state the following fact:
DONALD J. TRUMP IS AN ADJUDICATED RAPIST.
@elonmusk No, colonialism is.
“How British #colonialism killed 100 million Indians in 40 years
Between 1880 to 1920, British colonial policies in India claimed more lives than all famines in the Soviet Union, Maoist China and North Korea combined.”
