₹50,000 gone to the wrong UPI ID. Reported in minutes. Chargeback raised. Then SBI closed the case.

On 08.09.2026 at 08:22 pm I transferred ₹50,000 from my SBI account via PhonePe.

I reported it within minutes to SBI Customer Care and PhonePe. SBI raised a chargeback with IDBI on 09.09.2026.

SBI’s latest reply: IDBI “could not contact the customer” and “could not recover the funds.” Then - “get in touch with IDBI Bank. Further we closed this case from our side.”

That is not a resolution. I cannot contact an IDBI customer. Banks will not give me his number or full account. Closing the remitter’s ticket and pointing at the other bank is passing the file, not closing the complaint.

IDBI has only auto-acknowledged my mail. Reference: IDBIBank=014-864-327.

What I am asking:

@OfficialSBICare - reopen Case 1116095267. Share the URCS / chargeback reference and IDBI’s written reply. Keep facilitating until there is a final outcome.

2. @IDBIBankCares - contact the holder of account ending 2434 again. If ₹50,000 is still there, hold it and seek consent to reverse it to the SBI remitter. Give me a human complaint number, not only an auto-ack.

3. If the customer still cannot be reached, assist through the proper bank-to-bank / law-enforcement channel. Do not leave a ₹50,000 error as “not contactable, case closed.”

This was a one-character UPI ID mistake, reported immediately. It is not an excuse to shut the file.
