@drlouisenewson @trinnywoodall @thetimes I was told to stop at 61, i did and symptoms returned. Now they wont prescribe it again as ive been off it for 3 months. Say its NHS policy for over 60s. Why is it all such a battle

@drlouisenewson I will be taking this evidence back to my GP, as they have taken me off it, due to “risks” as im now 61. Funnily enough my blood pressure has shot up since stopping and my medication increased from 125mg to 5mg of Ramioril. Why is it always such a battle

@pospsychologist @drlouisenewson My surgery took me off HRT as said the risks increased at 60 plus. Within weeks my blood pressure has shot up, and now my medication has increased twice. Im back to my GP in a couple of weeks so Im glad of this evidence too. Good luck ay your appt

@drlouisenewson The cardiovascular element should not be ignored. My GP practice has taken me off HRT due to my age (61)! Since coming off my blood pressure has shot up, Ive had two medication increases. I keep banging on about the link but feel ignored

@drlouisenewson @thetimes Your clinic prescribed HRT when it was a battle with my GP. You saved me years if agony. Now Im 60 Im having the same issues again as a new GP wants me to stop. Endless battles!

@joseidesu2 @drlouisenewson @thetimes I suffer the same issues as you. Newson Health prescribed me HRT when my GP refused. I felt so much better. Now Im 60 Im battling again with a different GP. Its an endless struggle

I have written an article for @thetimes in response to the new draft menopause guidelines from NICE. They are a step backwards for women.

CBT may have a place when taking a holistic approach to managing the perimenopause, but it won’t improve every menopause symptom and won’t treat the underlying hormone deficiency.

Women deserve to have a choice and if they want to take HRT they should be allowed to. It is about time women are heard and their symptoms and future health is taken seriously.
