We call for urgent and meaningful engagement with the Muslim community and other civil society actors to confront the rise of Islamophobia across Europe.
Condemnation alone is not enough. Preventing such violence requires concrete action, inclusion, and accountability.
Urgent letter by FEMYSO to @EUAgainstAMH, Marion Lalisse - #SanDiego Islamic Center terrorist attack.
Meaningful engagement with Muslim representative voices is not a luxury anymore. Looking forward to meeting you soon Ms Lalisse.
Nothing about us without us.
#Islamophobia
2/3 One of the key messages of participants could be summarized as "Nothing about us without us".
The meeting was opened by @LukasSieperMdEP and @equineteurope.
Countries and organisations were keen to exchange ongoing initiatives to tackle anti-Muslim hatred in Europe & beyond
FEMYSO strongly condemns the attack on worshippers at the Islamic Center of San Diego.
Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those affected.

Through initiatives like the European Action Day Against Islamophobia (EADAI), our annual conference at the European Parliament, we come together to assess the state of Islamophobia policies and advocate for a more just and inclusive Europe.
📌As civic space continues to shrink across Europe - with organisations facing attacks, smear campaigns, and defamation - we remain steadfast in empowering young people to lead the change.
Education must empower, not exclude.
At #EADAI25, @obessu's SecGen Rui Teixeira called for:
📚 Decolonised curricula
🤔 Critical thinking > teaching to test
🧠 Tackling racism’s impact on mental health
💻 Digital literacy in schools
#EndIslamophobia#EducationForAll
"‘If you work harder, you’ll succeed.’ Not true.
As Marie-Amah Kouadio (@EAPNEurope ) stressed at our #EqualityInEducation panel, systemic discrimination locks doors long before the job search.
We need policies shaped by the lived experiences of people in poverty.
At #EADAI, Mila Paspalanova (@UNHumanRightsEU ) highlighted how racism is a public health crisis:
⚠️ Links to trauma & mental health
⚠️ Gendered impacts often overlooked
⚠️ Stress & racism shorten lifespans
Policies must be rooted in research & lived realities.
At #EADAI25, Sec Gen of YFJ Milosh Ristovski warned:
⚠️ Civic space is shrinking
⚠️ Youth orgs are increasingly facing attacks
⚠️ Funding shifts from democracy/social skills → competitiveness, fueling polarisation
#Europe must invest in #democracy & protect youth voices.
At #EADAI, we were honoured to co-host alongside @brandobenifei & @ceciliastrada.
Brando’s keynote reminded us to strengthen alliances across communities, push for stronger equality policies and secure more resources.
Thank you Brando for your bold leadership!
On the European Action Day Against Islamophobia.
🕊️ We remember Aboubakar Cissé, Hichem Miraoui & Rahma Ayad - and all victims of Islamophobic violence.
But remembrance must lead to action. Europe must choose justice, dignity & inclusion over silence.
We are grateful to @NazilaGhanea, UN SR on Freedom of Religion or Belief, for her powerful message to #EADAI.
She reminded us that the fight against Islamophobia is a fight for human rights. Protecting freedom of religion & belief is essential to defending democracy.
We would like to thank @EUAgainstAMH for her keynote speech and for joining us today #EADAI2025.
The work against Anti-Muslim racism is critical and must be connected to the broader fight of racism.
We are very proud to have wrapped up the 5th edition of the European Action Day Against Islamophobia Conference at the @Europarl_EN.
Powerful discussions, bold ideas, and a united call: #Islamophobia has no place in #Europe.
Stay tuned for the recap!
Today, @UNHumanRightsEU joined @FEMYSO in the #EP for the European action day against Islamophobia:
