@krichard121212 Because experiments on humans are banned everywhere. Try suggesting selecting embryos based on IQ and watch how 80% of people immediately start speaking out against it. We canโt even cure autism and a simple herpes.
@DrewPavlou Nah, among Greek nationalists it's a fairly common sentiment that Western Europe appropriated Greek achievements. To be fair, there's a lot of truth to that.
@ToastSpace@RixThereal99054 Russians will gladly learn English, German, or French. They don't want to learn Estonian, Romanian, or Mongolian. The mentality is that there are higher or equal civilizations and there are lower civilizations. How many Englishmen learn Welsh or Irish?
@LionelThrilling But this is a moral panic. The decline is largely caused by a change in demographic composition, not by a real decline in the academic performance of students.
@RegimeEnforcer@elephant_ben What kind of traits? Do you agree that embryo selection is stronger than in Gusev's model, which is based on a phenotypic threshold?
@RegimeEnforcer@elephant_ben What exactly can't we do? That's the whole point of embryo selection. In addition, in the near future we will have in vitro gametogenesis.
@Lasermazer@perrymetzger What is the patient's age, what is their sex, what is their profession, what is their polygenic score for this particular disease, and hundreds of other possible parameters. Why do we make a decision based on the rate for the entire population as if it were the mid-20th century?
@robertskmiles As someone from CS, I have no problem admitting that most programmers are incompetent and the average code is bad, but doctors, for some reason, strive to defend every member of the guild.
@theshasghar@JosephPolitano You know how Marxists believe that before the advent of stateless communism, a period of state socialism is needed. Also, some libertarians believe that a temporary period is needed when all socialists will be killed.
@StarfishScholar@Random__Kids@UAL_Fan@hecubian_devil They should conduct the same study using within-family controls. Population-based studies cannot establish causation. Right now we can't draw any conclusions, and all of this is just speculation.
