"This is a gimmick" from a man who is only an MP cos he forced a by-elction when one not needed, all to force an internal LP coup to dump one prime minister & allow his own coronation. Now that is what I call a gimmick.
The best way to get energy costs down is to ditch net zero
I have offered a free hour of energy training to all MPs and Peers
So far nobody from @UKLabour has shown any interest. Maybe you'd like to know more
The training covers oil, gas and electricity markets and steps through the value chain from upstream, midstream to downstream
It covers physical logistics and constraints
Eg why does North Sea oil go to European refineries but North Sea gas all comes to the UK
Why the gas market balances once a day vs every half hour for electricity
How bills are constructed etc
There's also a whole section in the notes on how the electricity market evolved after privatisation including how the Power Pool of England & Wales worked and why it was replaced by NETA (then BETTA)
If you don't already know this then perhaps you could spare an hour to find out
"This debate shows why Parliament is not working. Poor analysis let off the hook by poor scrutiny."
And a "mumbo jumbo" impact assessment
This is what happens when you fill Whitehall and Westminster with people who have no background in science. If your degree is in PPE (@Ed_Miliband) or history etc you're not going to be able to analyses this, see it for the nonsense it is, and ask the right questions about it
We see a Parliament full of scientifically illiterate people signing off on plans that risk energy and national security and are destroying the economy
Because they believe the fiction that renewables are cheap. And have no idea they are breaking the grid
"I grew up on a council estate" is not an excuse for failure. You are sacrificing the future of generations of kids on the altar of your class envy -reversing even Labour's academy reforms.
0% of teachers think you're doing a great job. I'm not here to give you a pat on the back.
I speak for those people whose lives you're destroying and I'll NEVER stop speaking up for them.
Because you've lied about the actual increase in teachers and you've done it off the backs of people who chose to pay for education leading to the closure of dozens of schools some of which had been teaching children for centuries
You didn't just close a few schools, you vandalised our culture and you have the gall to gaslight us that it's a good thing
You should be ashamed
Hilarious how many old tweets from @UKLabour MPs are surfacing where they called for a General Election when the @Conservatives replaced their PMs
Now they've gone very quiet on the subject of mandates 😂
Decent men don’t go after armed forces veterans, try to destroy family farms, smash small business, take away winter fuel cash from old folk, pile on the cash for work shy layabouts! Good riddance …
What do we make of the "king" being surrounded by women. Purplewashing?
@UKLabour has never been led by a woman but @AndyBurnhamGM decides to surround himself with women in this photo
Maybe Labour could give the virtue signalling a rest and actually do something substantive
Deal with the economy. Fund defence. Fix the NHS
If they want women to be front and centre, choose one to be the next PM. But stop with the window dressing. It's embarrassing
And to the women in this picture... Have some self respect. Surely your ambition doesn't end with being decorative??
This
None of them has the first idea what they're doing
And they're not listening
The electorate firmly rejected @UKLabour policies in the local elections and they think this means people want MORE of what Labour is selling
And the economics are telling them that more tax and spend isn't going to work. Tax what exactly? We have the highest tax burden since the 1940s and record government borrowing. Where is the spending money going to come from?
A quarter of government spending now goes on benefits. And if you combine people on benefits and those who work for the state, most Britons depend on the state for their living
Labour is killing the private sector. So where is the money coming from? Like Starmer, Burnham says he wants growth. But it's clear he doesn't have the first idea how to deliver it
Free hint: you won't get it if you destroy the private sector
Starmer was hated. Says far more about the electorate than the man. Impossible to govern when people want welfare, triple lock, tax loopholes, NIMBYist vetoes, while also hating the low growth, high debt economy this entails. Starmer was a good man leading an ungovernable country
What costs does it attach to Britain’s booming tech sector having to come under the ambit of the three/four major regulatory acts re digital developments Brussels has passed since we left? Acts which have stymied AI in the EU. If it accords none or v little it’s not worth the laptop on which it was written.
Sharon Graham, general secretary of Unite, Britain’s biggest trade union: “It is no secret that I disagree with Ed Miliband on almost every issue relating to a workers’ transition. Ed only seems to be interested in one side of the equation, rushing Britain to net zero with almost no thought for jobs, skills and national security.”
Couldn’t put it better myself.
Now that @Keir_Starmer has finally resigned, everyone is going to start saying nice things about him. About how he was honourable and did the right thing etc, with talk of his legacy and sense of duty to public service.
It will all be nonsense. He wasn't up to the job and he thinks he's been betrayed by his own party and his own voters.
And never forget that he despises most of the people in this country just for being patriots and wanting strong borders.
Good riddance.
UK law:
If you are Muslim you can punch a police offer in the face, bang your first cousin and claim benefits for your fourth wife (also a family number)
If you are white, you get prison time for tweeting how pissed off you are about it.
Labour are inciting riots
I expected people to keep quiet during the trial. But, now that we have the conviction, why has no minister spoken out? Where are all the celebs who took the knee six years ago? Where is the wall-to-wall BBC coverage? Unlike the Floyd case, this one happened in Britain, ffs.
As Tony Blair points out, Miliband is insane. 👇
No other country is inflicting this net zero nonsense on its people.
UK has the highest energy prices in the advanced world because of this fool.
So rather than use the actual figures for economic growth, which show Britain holding up reasonably well in a lacklustre field, you prefer to depend on theoretical modelling, not just for the future but for years that have already happened. Modelling which is open to serious criticism. I notice Goldman Sachs seems to have taken down the study to which you refer (or perhaps you have a link). Nor did you answer my question. Time to move on.
So Andy Burnham and Wes Streeting both want to rejoin the EU, the bloc with the world’s most sluggish growth.
They spit in the faces of millions of working people, many of whom voted for the first time in the Brexit referendum.
Let’s see how that works out in 2029.
