Only 22% of autistic adults are in any kind of employment (ONS). If you are an employer currently recruiting please consider the skills and abilities of autistic adults, many of whom want to work and contribute. #equalopportunities#NoDiscrimination#AutismAcceptance#Autism
@healthdpt FAQs linked here refers to England, is this annual health check automatically available to people in NI too? Can this be extended to include people with ASD who do not have a learning disability? @CarersNI@AutismNIPAPA@PFTweets @AutismInit @disabilityni

A politician, a party leader, who understands and appreciates carers and how they contribute to society and who really knows what it feels like to be a carer?! Imagine that.
Caring isn’t just my family's story, it is the story of millions, caring for each other, dealing with tough times, and keeping going with love.
Sharing our story hasn't been easy, but it's important. It's time to bring carers' experiences into the light.
This erasure of children with support needs (including in the apology from the photography company) is a blatant representation of everyday & accepted erasures of children with disabilities - invisible on school websites, excluded from clubs & trips etc. https://t.co/V1bealpOw8
I raised that there are over 2,000 autistic people or people with learning disabilities detained in inappropriate in-patient units despite the Government promising to close them all down over TEN years ago.
@wesstreeting is right, Ministers have shown breathtaking complacency.
We are recruiting!
We are looking for parents/carers of children aged 18months – 6years with additional developmental needs to take part in our EPAtS Cluster Randomised Control Trial.
EPAtS is an amazing course designed to empower families with practical, realistic and sensitive support.
Hear from one of our past parents: “I never opened up to anyone before about how life with autism is like, but this group has made me feel so comfortable and understood. When someone understands and
supports you, it makes everything feel easier and better.”
You can reserve your spot at our information session on Wednesday 15th November through the link below:

@CllrAdamGannon Rural people, including those with learning difficulties/disabilities, are already isolated. Limited week day normal bus services. None at weekends. Relying on community transport services that are themselves limited & also not fully funded. Families are struggling in many ways.
2000 people with a #LearningDisability and autistic people are locked away right now.
Many are held not because they need treatment, but because of a lack of support in the community.
People should live in #HomesNotHospitals - help end this scandal: https://t.co/Mlh5eOmwMT👈
"The mental trauma I see him living with is heart-breaking."
Elliot's family were told he'd be home in weeks after admission to a mental health inpatient unit.
He was held there for four years.

"There has also been no mention of the previously announced £25 million to support unpaid carers or the £300 million mentioned in the white paper to integrate housing into local health and care strategies."
