Lindbloom AC prevails in a thriller in the CPS SCORE girls elementary soccer city championship winning 3-2 over Mariano Azuela Elementary School. Lindbloom’s Nataly Velasco netted the game winning goal with 2:36 to play in the game. Great game played by both teams.
Currently prepping for this week and it’s wild how many big name places used for teaching materials DONT have their stuff in a language outside of English.
Our school has over 8 different languages spoken and it’s challenging being able to provide support when even our materials aren’t in the language that our student speaks.
Virtual teaching has really brought out the innovative, resourcefulness, and creativity out of everyone trying to make this as easy to understand for students and parents.
BUT, it has also highlighted inequalities in minoritized and impoverished communities.
Remember that homelessness affects many. Check on your elderly friends, your students, folks that you see on a daily while commuting to and from work. The Midwest is going through a cold front. Stay safe and warm y’all.
THREAD:
It’s hard to ask for help. After coming to the States, I needed a lot of help when I was in school to the extent that my peers made fun of me because I didn’t know the language for me to read basic instructions.
Recently, though, I became more aware that even though it is difficult to ask for help, support, or guidance, it is a fundamental part of my development. If I don’t ask for help, I won’t learn. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness.
