“Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.”

@UcheMaryOkoli Yes it means the only way to the father is Jesus Christ… no Mary in that verse. Which is why you confuse me with what you are saying. Can you show me Bible verse that says the way to Jesus is through mary??
Mam if I didn’t understand what I was reading I wouldn’t be speaking on it. Any form of honor or worship is strictly prohibited towards idols. All you have to do is look up the definition of honor.
“ All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen.”
1 Timothy 1:17
It’s not what I say but it’s scripture. As a Christian we need to read scripture and understand.

Venerating is the present participle of the verb venerate, which means to regard or treat someone or something with profound respect, deep awe, or sacred honor.
Making a graven image, venerating, bowing down, serving or showing reverence are all forms of honoring an idol. Which is prohibited by God.
@Xtopher_Uzo 2 Kings 18:4, King Hezekiah smashed the relic and named it Nehushtan, a Hebrew term meaning a mere "piece of bronze" or "worthless bit of brass".
- bronze serpent not idolatry but God chose the bronze serpent in Numbers 21 as a direct symbol of the Israelites' sin and judgment, mirroring the fiery serpents biting them. By looking up at the bronze image on a pole in faith, the people were forced to confront their rebellion and trust God alone for healing.
@Xtopher_Uzo -ark of the covenant not idolatry but symbol Built by Moses under divine instruction, it symbolized God's presence and throne on Earth before disappearing from history after the Babylonian exile.
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.”

“saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: all therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, and love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.”

“And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them. For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.”
