Ferris students showed HEART caring for our place leading up to Earth Day. We had an active transport initiative and a litter free day. Div. 4 and 24 won the Golden Shoe award and helped to plant the Miyawaki Pocket Forest on the back field. #sd38learn
Being truly kind connects us all at Ferris. For Pink Shirt Day, staff and students gathered outside to form a kindness chain. Links from the chain are now displayed throughout the school as a reminder to show Ferris HEART.
On Oct. 14, students at Ferris engaged in Student Vote and learned about the election process. On Monday, we will compare the Ferris results to the general Civic Election results.
Ferris students learned about and observed Pink Shirt Day in many ways this week: art, stories, button making, dancing at lunch time… It was wonderful to see our school wearing pink and showing Ferris HEART!

Ferris observed Remembrance Day by continuing many of its traditions, including hanging banners and creating a circle of peace. Virtual student performances provided us the opportunity to reflect on sacrifices made and to hope for peace.
Ferris’ new intermediate playground is almost ready. A huge thank you to the PAC fundraisers and all the volunteers who helped with the community installation on Saturday.
A pop-up performance by the Lunch Hour Band created a bit of background music during outdoor lunchtime. Ferris families can access a recording of a virtual band concert through a link emailed from the office. Thanks to Mr. Kruk for organizing!
As part of our Ferris Earth Month Celebration, 10 new tulip trees have been planted in our yard. Thanks to Tree Canada for awarding Ferris with a grant to fund this.

Many Remembrance Day traditions continued at Ferris this week. Our class banners are decorating our hallways and giving students and staff opportunities to reflect.
Over 130 Ferris students participated in the CIVIX Student Vote. Votes are still being counted in Richmond South Centre and our students will continue to learn about the voting process. Thanks to Mr. Lyseng and Ms. Stene for organizing.

Ferris teachers are connecting with families this week and working collaboratively to create plans for continuity of learning. We need our whole school community - students, staff and parents - to support each other as we adjust to new ways of learning and being together.
