📣 New KRA Tax Rates Now in Effect (July–Sept 2025)
KRA revised key tax rates which were effective 1st July 2025 (Public Notice No. 07/2025). Here’s what you need to know:
🔹 Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT)
New rate: 8.0% (was 9.0%)
- Applies to staff benefits like cars, housing, and low-interest loans
🗓️ Due by: 20th of the following month
��� Deemed Interest Rate
New rate: 8.0%
- Used for interest-free or low-interest loans from abroad
🔹 Low Interest Benefit Rate
Prescribed rate: 9.0% (fixed until Dec 2025)
- If a staff loan is offered below 9%, the difference is treated as a benefit
➡️ 15% withholding tax is applied on that benefit
🕐 Must be remitted within 5 working days
✅ What to do now:
✔️ Recalculate staff benefits using new FBT rate
✔️ Check staff and foreign loan agreements
✔️ Adjust payroll tax deductions
