@sunriseCTV Sadly, many of our journalists thrive in subjective and sensational ways of reporting. We must do away with sensational journalism if we must improve the image of our country.
@sunriseCTV While we cannot simply brush aside the serious risks of political abuse state police carries, we must not forget that state police is bound to bring better security. Even in US, those in authority use the justice department to harass their opponents but we must look at the bigger picture.
@sunrisedailynow If we follow Peter Ameh’s argument, it gives the impression that very soon anyone could simply wake up, register a political party, and run it like a shell company. It’s not going to happen!
@sunrisedailynow While Nigeria must address the problem of political parties that operate like shell entities, it is not in the national interest for Justice Peter Lifu to issue a judgment that results in the de‑registration of as many as five political parties at once. Such a sweeping decision risks shrinking the democratic space and undermining the pluralism that a healthy democracy requires.

@sunriseCTV Nigeria’s democracy has not delivered the prosperity our people hoped for. Instead, it has deepened poverty for the majority while allowing a small group to corner the nation’s wealth. This is not the promise democracy was meant to fulfil, and it shows how urgently we need a system that truly serves the people.
@sunriseCTV Mr Tope Fasua seems to be happy that minimum wage has risen to N70,000. Can you please ask him how long would it take him to spend N70,000?
@sunriseCTV There is no doubt that the financial and human costs of securing our country in the last 27 years of democracy are huge. But Nigeria shall be safe and prosperous again!
@sunriseCTV The ease at which terrorists attack soft targets for hours and escape shows that intelligence is chronically weak. Nigeria can only reduce terrorist attacks on soft targets like markets, schools, worship centres, transport hubs, and other crowded civilian spaces by strengthening intelligence, hardening vulnerable locations, improving rapid response, and deepening community engagement. The president must be in the driving seat for protecting all Nigerians.
@sunrisedailynow The removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of Nigeria’s exchange rates, though painful, remain some of the most significant achievements of President Tinubu’s administration. No objective or well‑informed Nigerian believes that fuel subsidies or multiple exchange‑rate windows were sustainable. Only those indifferent to the risk of national bankruptcy would argue otherwise.
However, despite these bold reforms, President Tinubu has not provided enough support to cushion the hardship faced by ordinary Nigerians. The cost of living has risen sharply, and many citizens feel abandoned in the transition. In addition, insecurity continues to pose a major challenge for the administration, with many communities still living in fear and uncertainty.
@sunrisedailynow Politicians like to present themselves as champions of the Nigerian people, yet many citizens can see that their true priority is capturing power. Those in the so‑called opposition, many of whom have played a role in our long-standing challenges cannot easily convince Nigerians that they are now acting in the public’s interest.
@SkyNews It seems to me that Kendall is treating the public as if we can’t see what’s right in front of us. Defending a position that many people view as indefensible only undermines trust. It’s also difficult to accept the idea that the Prime Minister was unaware of the long‑reported controversies surrounding Mandelson when appointing him as ambassador to the United States. #TrevorPhillips
@sunriseCTV It’s no secret that the cost of living is rising in every country, but what makes it especially painful for Nigerians is the lack of real support from their government. While other countries are rolling out measures to cushion their citizens, Nigeria’s federal, state, and local governments have offered very little that truly reaches the average person. It’s heartbreaking to watch people struggle while those in power seem to do almost nothing meaningful to ease the burden. Sad!
@sunriseCTV Sadly political leadership roles end up in the hands of people who don’t seem fully prepared for them and not only in Nigeria. A recent example was the U.S. Secretary being questioned in the Senate and struggling to name the ASEAN member countries. Instead of identifying them correctly, he listed countries that aren’t part of ASEAN at all, which made it seem like he was guessing rather than relying on knowledge. Sad!
@sunrisedailynow For over 20 years, every INEC Chairman, no matter their reputation, has faced attempts by opposition parties and their supporters to undermine their credibility. That pattern wouldn’t change even if the Chairman were “an angel.” Laolu Akande’s commentary seems to overlook this consistent dynamic in Nigeria’s political landscape.
@sunrisedailynow Kenneth Okonkwo made a lot of noise during his time in the Labour Party, but all the loud and arrogant commentary ultimately led nowhere. Now he’s repeating the same pattern in the ADC, and it’s clear that the same noise and bravado will amount to nothing again.
