June 21, 1964. James Chaney, a Black Mississippian, and Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner, two Jewish New Yorkers, were murdered by the Klan for registering Black voters.

They were found 44 days later, side by side. Mississippi's segregated cemeteries would not let them be buried that way.

Fewer than two dozen Jews remain in Kolkata. Their 1884 synagogue is immaculate.

For generations its caretakers have been Muslim families, the job handed from father to son. Some grew up inside the building.

One of them says he prays the community will survive.

What does a mosque built for the future look like?

In Cambridge, England, it looks like a forest. Cambridge Central Mosque, opened 2019, is often called Europe's first eco-friendly mosque, its timber columns branching overhead like trees.

Last summer MACFEST brought Muslim and non-Muslim visitors to tour it together.

Mandela Day, July 18. At his 1963 trial, where the state wanted him dead, the man beside him was an Indian Muslim. His lawyers were Jewish South Africans and a Greek immigrant.

Different faiths, one belief: the country belonged to everyone.

In the Bronx, a Muslim school shares its building with a synagogue.

The imam offered them space when their congregation lost its own. That was 25 years ago. They are still there.

His name is Sheikh Musa Drammeh.

Last summer in Paris, a Holocaust survivor and a young French athlete carried the Olympic flame together, past the @Shoah_Memorial .

The crowd cheering was @espoir18paris, a French interfaith youth movement and FFEU partner.

The one object sacred in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam: bread 🍞

Jews bless it on Shabbat. Christians break it at communion. Muslims treat it as sacred.

In Egyptian Arabic, the word for bread, aish, also means life.

In 1940, a 32-year-old American editor flew to Nazi-occupied France with $3,000 strapped to his leg.

His name was Varian Fry. He stayed 13 months and helped roughly 2,000 people escape, including Marc Chagall, Hannah Arendt, and Max Ernst.

He worked illegally. France expelled him. He died largely forgotten in 1967.

He was the first American honored as Righteous Among the Nations.

In 1790, George Washington wrote a letter to a synagogue.

The warden had welcomed him with a line: the new government would give "to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance."

Washington wrote it back as a promise. The Bill of Rights was ratified four months later.
