#LetsMeet @COP30 🇧🇷:
In 1999, I left the Amazon as a young software engineer from Procter & Gamble Procter & Gamble wondering if forest conservation could ever pay the people protecting it.

2025: Back at 52, social entrepreneur with Fair Grade Forests, dad of two, lived in 10 and traveled to 60 countries, here I am in Belém after crossing 4,000 km of Brazil by bus, honoured to be an actor at COP30.

The photo from that first trip is faded now, but the memories aren't.

i wanted to see what had changed.

What we'd lost.

What we could still protect.

The forests?

Smaller than I remembered.

The Brazilian people and culture?

More impressive, diverse than ever.

And yes, I chose the road over flying.

80% less CO2 emissions.

Seemed fitting for this journey.

I arrived just as COP30 kicked off with real momentum.

President Lula announced the Tropical Forests Forever Fund Tropical Forest Forever Facility - TFFF

Our Viking tribes brothers from Norway committed 3 billion to the cause and the world added another 3 billion.

Finally, forest protection is getting the scale of investment it deserves.

But here's what kept running through my mind during those 4,000 km:

Money flowing to forest protection is meaningless without the science, technology and systems to evidence real-world incentives, rewards, protections and outcomes for the Indigenous custodians and stewards of thriving forest ecosystems.

There is great value in the transparency, accountability and evidence of impact that #MRV systems powered by AI and Private Blockchain can unlock.

We need to enable forest rich countries to barter credits against the commodities and services their communities actually need.

This is what Fair Grade Forests and #StoryBox are building.
