Across the country, communities are coming together in spirit—hearts united in grief, love, and prayer—for those who lost their lives and for everyone affected by the tragedy at the Lapu-Lapu Filipino Festival.
To our kababayans in Vancouver, BC, please know: we mourn with you.
We stand with the Filipino community in Vancouver during this time of sorrow.
Join us as we gather to honor the victims of the Lapu Lapu Filipino Festival tragedy.
Let’s come together in love, and hope.

As the day turned to evening, BGYO’s performance was simply mesmerizing—their charisma and talent captivated everyone. The wait was more than worth it. Fiesta Filipino enjoyed having these kind-hearted boys, despite their sweet nature offstage, transformed into beasts on stage.
Today, we announced that off-campus work hours for international students will return to the 20hour-per-week limit as of May 1, 2024. The temporary policy that waived the 20-hour limit expires tomorrow: https://t.co/sfKhOa9QZd
· As we head into the summer session, students who have a scheduled academic break can continue working unlimited hours.
· This fall, we intend to change the number of hours students may work off campus per week to 24 hours.
This morning, so-called “save our children” protestors swarmed my vehicle. The level of hate was chilling.
It did not shake my resolve to stand with 2SLGBTQ+ kids & their families.
Calgary is a place of love & inclusion. Your hatred has no home here.

These are the People behind Fiesta Filipino. The Philippine Festival Council of Alberta worked very hard to bring smiles to the faces of our community members. It is our mission to elevate the Filipino Culture in Canada and we are not done doing the work yet.
