Today, on behalf of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, Speaker Hon. Morakane Mosupyoe paid tribute to the late Hon. Mzi Khumalo, MPL and ANC PTT Spokesperson, during his State Funeral.

In her tribute, the Hon. Speaker reflected on Hon. Mzi Khumalo’s invaluable contribution to the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, the African National Congress and the people of Gauteng.

She honoured his unwavering commitment to public service, principled leadership and dedication to strengthening our democracy.

As we bid a final farewell to Hon. Mzi Khumalo, we remember a dedicated public representative, a committed comrade and a servant of the people whose life and work touched many.

His contribution and legacy will continue to be remembered by those he served and those who had the privilege of working alongside him.

MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCES BY THE SPEAKER OF THE GAUTENG PROVINCIAL LEGISLATURE, HONOURABLE MORAKANE MOSUPYOE, ON THE PASSING OF MR JAYDEN ADAMS

It is with profound sadness that I have learnt of the untimely passing of Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club midfielder, Mr Jayden Adams.

South Africa has lost a remarkably gifted young footballer whose talent, humility and dedication inspired millions across our nation. His journey from grassroots football to representing both his club and the national team reflected the power of perseverance, discipline and unwavering commitment to excellence.

On behalf of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, I extend my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the Adams family, Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club, the South African Football Association (SAFA), his teammates, friends, supporters and the entire South African football fraternity during this difficult time.

As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life that brought hope, pride and inspiration to countless young people who dared to dream. His legacy will continue to live on through the many lives he touched and the generations of aspiring footballers he inspired.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.

On Friday, 3 July 2026, the Speaker of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, Hon. Morakane Mosupyoe, hosted a Stakeholder Engagement in Enkangala, bringing together key institutions committed to strengthening democracy and empowering communities.

The engagement was attended by representatives from the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), the South African Police Service (SAPS), and the Chair of Chairs of the City of Tshwane Council, demonstrating a united commitment to promoting active citizenship and democratic participation.
