Congratulations to Professor Julie Silvestri honorary Professor @QUBelfast and @BelfastTrust who received a CBE in the King’s #BirthdayHonours for services to ophthalmology and eye care.
We’ve been delighted to host the brilliant Dr Wallace Brownlee (@DrWBRO) & CNS @Staceypruett for the first morning of our MS Advanced MasterClass 18. We're looking forward to afternoon talks on disease-modifying therapies and symptom management. #multiplesclerosisMC#MS
Really excited to see this in print - what to do when someone has a first demyelinating event but MRI doesn’t meet MS diagnostic criteria. I argue for actively watching and waiting… but that this needs to be done in partnership with the patient. https://t.co/iYJeeSXqeY
A reminder that Elsevier made $10.5 BILLION in 2022 from selling your academic journals and articles behind paywalls, and make more profit than Amazon, Google, and Apple every year…
And paid the academics who wrote the articles $0
And paid the reviewers of the articles $0
What a magical moment for me and my beautiful wife Claire. Bruce was so kind and a fantastic human. I played my voice app and I really believe we connected. I told Bruce Land of Hope and dreams was on my bucket list, and he said he would play it for me. And God he did. I love him
Last evening I was blown away brought to meet Bruce Springsteen backstage before concert. We had a couple of hugs and I used my voice app to talk to him. Then he dedicated Land of Hope and Dreams to “my friend Charlie Bird” O God Bruce is a great human. My final wish has happened

The NHS has a never ending pot of money for jobs like this;
Over £100k for being a Director of Lived Experience
But apparently no money to give doctors, nurses and paramedics anything other than years of real terms pay cuts.

.@Jeremy_Hunt my wife and are NHS consultants. Our combined pension tax bill for the last year is £30k. So what do we do? Retire seems like the best option. Wave goodbye to our expertise. There is no incentive to stay.
Or you could change the rules. But you won’t.
Cheerio.
