As you can see from the roll call, about 207 Republicans voted “yay,” while 197 Democrats voted “no.” So, who really shut down the funding?

Now that we’ve established that the House did pass the appropriations bill for 2025, it’s now up to the Senate. And who controls the Senate? The Democrats. And who is the President of the Senate? Your Vice President, Kamala Harris. So, who really needs to pass the bill and send it back to Congress?

You may ask why they are doing this. Why did Mayorkas go on mainstream media and claim that FEMA doesn’t have enough funding to make it through the season?

I’ll tell you why. Because Trump showed up before any government official with supplies, food, oil, and money. He was on the ground on September 30th, and it made the optics look bad for them.

Now they’ve got to spin the story because it’s an election year. While Trump was on the ground, they knew for a whole week in advance that the hurricane was about to hit. So did Mayorkas. They also knew that the House and Congress were in session the last week of September because they passed the 9747 bill, which extended funding.

Why didn’t Mayorkas speak up then? Even before he went on mainstream media and claimed that FEMA didn’t have enough money for the season, they knew they had executive drawdown power, as Speaker of the House Mike Johnson said. This means, by executive power, they can allocate funding immediately to disaster areas.

Since we’re in a new fiscal year, the $20 billion does apply to this disaster.

But I find it interesting that on September 26th, Biden did an executive drawdown for Ukraine. President Biden has done over 55 executive drawdowns for funding allocated to Ukraine. This means funding can get to where it’s needed quickly.

Instead of focusing on the disasters about to hit our country, they focused on foreign affairs. It came back to bite them because Trump showed up immediately after the disaster happened.“
