@elonmusk I saw your pledge to give every child in America a @SpaceX share next year. Thatās a generous idea. š
Please consider giving every disabled person in America one tooāincluding adults.
Iām 33 and have cerebral palsy. One of my biggest hopes is to get a @Neuralink implant someday, if it becomes suitable for me, to help me communicate more independently.
I have so much I want to say. I want to tell my own stories, make friends, and share my thoughts without depending so heavily on others.
A share would mean being included in the future youāre building.
Disabled adults still have futures and dreams worth investing in too. ā¤ļø

WHY SHOULD PEOPLE WITH CEREBRAL PALSY HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE TECHNOLOGY THAT COULD GIVE US A VOICE?
My name is Roman. Iām 33 years old, and I have severe cerebral palsy.
Every day, I struggle to communicate with the world.
Imagine having a mind full of thoughts, feelings, opinions, and dreams but struggling to express them.
Imagine depending on someone else to help you communicate almost everything you want to say.
THAT IS MY REALITY.
When I see the incredible progress being made with brain-computer interfaces, I donāt just see technology.
I SEE HOPE FOR A DIFFERENT FUTURE.
I see the possibility of telling my own stories.
Having conversations without struggling to get every word out.
Making friends independently.
And finally being able to express myself without depending so heavily on other people.
But I keep wondering why people with cerebral palsy arenāt more visibly represented in BCI research.
I know this technology is still developing, and not every device will work for every disability.
But people like me deserve to be considered.
WE HAVE SPENT OUR ENTIRE LIVES WAITING FOR BETTER WAYS TO COMMUNICATE.
Researchers, developers, and BCI companies, please donāt forget about us.
IāM NOT ASKING FOR SPECIAL TREATMENT. IāM ASKING TO BE INCLUDED IN THE FUTURE YOUāRE BUILDING.

TO FOX5 LAS VEGAS: IāM TIRED OF FEELING INVISIBLE!
My name is Roman. Iām 33 years old, and I live with cerebral palsy.
I have something to say, and Iām tired of feeling like the world isnāt listening.
Every single day, I wake up in a body that doesnāt allow me to do the things most people take for granted.
I canāt live independently. I canāt communicate easily. I depend on other people for things that most adults never have to think twice about.
But just because my body doesnāt cooperate doesnāt mean my mind doesnļæ½ļæ½t work!
I have thoughts. I have feelings. I have dreams. I have opinions. I have a voice that deserves to be heard.
Do you know what itās like to have so much to say but struggle to get the words out?
Do you know what itās like to watch everyone around you build their own lives while you sit there wondering when youāll get your chance?
Iām 33 years old. I WANT MY OWN LIFE TOO!
Iām tired of watching society build new businesses, entertainment centers, and opportunities while people with severe disabilities are too often left out of the conversation.
Where are our opportunities?
Where are the programs that actually help us become more independent?
Where are the people fighting to make sure adults like me arenāt forgotten?
And why does it sometimes feel like people assume that because I have difficulty speaking, I have difficulty thinking?
I AM NOT STUPID. I AM NOT INVISIBLE. AND I AM NOT A CHILD!
One of my biggest dreams is to receive a brain-computer interface, technology that could potentially allow me to communicate more independently.
Companies and researchers are making incredible progress with this technology.
But I keep wondering: What about people with cerebral palsy? What about people like me who have spent their entire lives struggling to communicate?
WHY SHOULD OUR VOICES HAVE TO WAIT?
My parents understand me, and theyāve spent their lives helping me. I love them for that.
But my parents wonāt be here forever.
That thought scares me more than I can explain.
I donāt want to spend the rest of my life depending on someone else to tell the world what Iām thinking.
I want to tell my own stories.
I want to make friends.
I want to have conversations without struggling to get every word out.
I want to be recognized as the adult I am.
I DONāT WANT SOMEONE ELSE TO BE MY VOICE FOREVER. I WANT MY OWN VOICE!
FOX5 Las Vegas, Iām asking you to pay attention to adults with severe disabilities who are fighting every day for independence.
Come hear our stories.
Show the world what our lives are really like.
Talk about the technology that could change our futures.
And please stop letting people like me remain invisible.
IāM NOT ASKING FOR PITY. IāM ASKING FOR A CHANCE.
A chance to communicate.
A chance to be independent.
A chance to participate in the world instead of watching it from the sidelines.
I HAVE SPENT 33 YEARS LIVING WITH CEREBRAL PALSY. I DONāT WANT TO SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE FEELING LIKE THE WORLD HAS FORGOTTEN ME.
My body may limit what I can do.
BUT IT DOES NOT LIMIT WHAT I HAVE TO SAY.

What if someone else had to speak for you your entire life?
What if they misunderstood your feelings, changed the meaning of your words without realizing it, or made decisions based on what they thought you wanted?
Iām living that reality.
I have cerebral palsy. Iām 33 years old, and I depend on my parents to help me communicate.
I love them, but I also want something every adult deserves: the freedom to express my own thoughts and make my own decisions.
Thatās why Iām so interested in Neuralink and brain-computer interfaces.
Iām not asking technology to give me a mind.
I ALREADY HAVE ONE.
Iām asking for technology that could someday help me communicate whatās inside it.
I donāt want to be spoken FOR forever.

Iām 33 years old, and I have cerebral palsy.
Throughout my life, Iāve depended on other people to help communicate what Iām thinking and feeling.
But hereās something I wish more people understood.
Sometimes what a parent or caregiver says isnāt exactly what the disabled person wanted to express.
Not because they donāt care, but because nobody can know every thought inside another personās mind.
And when youāre an adult who depends on someone else to communicate, that can be incredibly frustrating.
I love my parents. Iām grateful for their help.
But Iām not a little boy anymore.
Iām a grown man with my own feelings, opinions, dreams, and decisions.
I deserve to be listened to, even when communicating takes longer.
I deserve to make choices about my own life.
And most importantlyā¦
I deserve to have my own voice, not just someone speaking on my behalf.

I am disabled. I am NOT incapable of thinking for myself.
When you depend on a parent or caregiver to speak for you, something important can get lost along the way: YOUR OWN VOICE.
Whether youāre a child or an adult with a disability, your thoughts, feelings, and wishes donāt always come across the way YOU intended.
Sometimes parents speak for us without realizing theyāre replacing our words with what THEY think we mean or want.
I have cerebral palsy. Iām 33 years old. I love my parents, and I appreciate everything they do for me.
But I am an adult with my own mind, opinions, dreams, and decisions.
Needing someone to help me communicate doesnāt mean I need someone to think for me.
This is why I fight so hard for independent communication through brain-computer interface technology.
I donāt want to spend my entire life having other people explain who I am.
I want to tell the world who I am MYSELF.

This Is Why Brain-Computer Interfaces Matter Beyond the Technology
I want to share a personal experience that reminded me why BCI technology is so important.
I have cerebral palsy, and communicating my thoughts independently is one of the biggest challenges in my life.
Recently, some people questioned whether I was capable of writing my own messages because I use word recognition and ChatGPT to help me communicate.
That experience hurt deeply.
Imagine finally finding technology that helps you express yourself, only to have people question whether those thoughts actually belong to you.
This is something I hope brain-computer interfaces can help change.
I donāt want a BCI because itās futuristic or exciting.
I want one because I dream of expressing myself more independently, communicating with the world, and being recognized for the person I am.
I understand this technology is still developing, and there are no guarantees.
But every advancement gives me hope.
I donāt need technology to give me intelligence. I need technology that helps me express the intelligence I already have.
Thatās the future Iām hoping for. ā¤ļøš§

Please Donāt Underestimate My Intelligence Because of My Disability
Living with cerebral palsy is difficult enough without having to prove to people that I am capable of thinking for myself.
Recently, I experienced something that really hurt me.
Some people questioned whether the messages I wrote were actually mine because I need help communicating.
Imagine spending so much time and energy trying to express yourself, only to have someone assume you arenāt capable of having your own thoughts.
That feeling is heartbreaking.
Iām 33 years old. I have my own opinions, emotions, dreams, and decisions to make.
I use technology to help me communicate, but that doesnāt make my thoughts any less real.
My cerebral palsy affects my speech, not my intelligence.
People with communication disabilities deserve to be heard, respected, and treated like the individuals we are.
We shouldnāt have to fight so hard just to be taken seriously.

What we saw left us discouraged.
From our perspective, it often seemed like the staff spent more time talking with each other than actively engaging with the adults they were there to support. We may not have seen everything that was happening, but it made us wonder:
Are we setting the bar high enough?

I wanted to share this here because I think people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities deserve more than basic accessibility.
When new sports and recreation spaces are built, I wish part of them were designed specifically for us ā places for adaptive sports, assistive technology, learning skills, socializing, and becoming more independent.
Accessibility should be about more than ramps and bathrooms. It should be about giving disabled people real opportunities to participate, grow, and be part of the community.
I want places like that in my community too.

I was watching FOX5 News and saw the plans for another large sports and recreation complex in Henderson near Lake Mead Parkway.
I keep seeing our community build, build, build ā new sports facilities, entertainment, housing and other developments ā and it frustrates me because I rarely hear about major projects being designed specifically for people with disabilities.
Why couldnāt a portion of a project this large be dedicated to the disability community?
Iām talking about a truly accessible space where adults and children with physical and developmental disabilities could exercise, participate in adaptive sports, learn skills, socialize, use assistive technology, and work toward greater independence.
Accessibility should be more than ramps and accessible bathrooms. People with disabilities deserve places that are actually designed around our needs, goals and abilities.

This is exciting progress. For people who would depend on a BCI every day, reliability matters just as much as speed. Needing less calibration and having the system keep working for weeks could make a huge difference in real life. I hope improvements like this eventually lead to more dependable communication for people with disabilities.
@NeuraPod Itās amazing to think about how much better BCIs could become as they learn from more real-world brain data. I hope that progress eventually leads to more accurate and reliable communication for people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities.
@nirevenchen0111 Thatās exactly what excites me about BCI technology. For me, it wouldnāt only be about communication ā it could also give me new ways to design, create, write, and maybe even enjoy gaming more independently. That kind of freedom would mean a lot.
