We just had another staff member test positive for COVID-19 on July 22, 2021. The first floor was closed without explanation for the public. One library worker told someone the reason for the floor closure, and was fired only hours later.

Thursday, March 25. Another employee at the Main Library tested positive. HR states that the affected department will be closed for three days, but we have not yet been informed which department.

This is the 18th positive case at NPL. #ProtectLibraryWorkers

We have been notified of another positive COVID-19 case among staff on Wednesday, March 24. North End Branch. NPL is closing North End Branch until Monday.

(We have still not received official notification of the case from March 17 at the Main Library.)

Newark Public Library workers have seen over a dozen of our colleagues get sick with COVID-19 since reopening. The majority of those testing positive are front-line workers of color. We do not know how many of our library patrons have gotten sick so far. #ProtectLibraryWorkers
