#MIFF2024 stats of the 60 features I saw: Bechdel pass 63% (way down from 85%), female directors 45% (down from 48%), First Nations (FN) 3% (up from 2%), LGBTQI+ 18% (up from 9%). My average score 3.72 (down from 3.77). Overall feeling - not much queer joy, feminist or FN voices

Of 54 films, 85% passed the Bechdel Test (down from 86% in 2022) and 48% were directed by women (same as last year). My stats for films about indigenous people and LGBTQI+ people and culture were way down (almost negligible).

If the sound at the Comedy Theatre had been better, I would have heard all of the witty dialogue of the gorgeous THEATER CAMP. It’s going to need a rewatch. @MIFFofficial#miff2023
BLACKBERRY and TIME BOMB Y2K are of an ilk. Enjoyable and surprisingly sobering romps where we can feel smug with the wisdom of hindsight. And both have Steve Jobs pre turtleneck. #MIFF2023
Review: Franklin (2022) - A remarkable exploration of everything from grief to non-violent protest, framed by the push in the 80s to stop the damming of two wild Tasmanian rivers. #MIFF2022 https://t.co/N7a1k9uJq7
Review: The Lost City of Melbourne (2022) - A gentle love letter to Melbourne. Watch it in one of the iconic cinemas it celebrates. #MIFF2022 https://t.co/uSYEd9XAtq
