🗣️ Current Student Managers aspiring to become GAs next year here is a step by step plan to put yourself ahead of the competition for those positions!

1. Set up Zoom calls with College Coaches or DOBO’s once a week starting now through April 1st of next year! 📅 If you start now you can make 32 New Connections!

2. Create an Excel spreadsheet to track networking contacts you make and ensure you have follow-up touchpoints. 📊

3. Follow up touchpoints being: Send thank you cards after the call, sending a card during the holiday season, wishing them best of luck for their first game or starting conference play… (if you have the funds, add a $5 Starbucks gift card. That surprise and delight moment makes you more memorable!) 📝

4. Once April comes around plan on attending the @WBCA1981 convention! Before you go make sure to contact all the new connections you made and setup a brief in person meeting.

5. Learn a new skill that can immediately impact a program… The most important now is graphic design! So practice Photoshop skills for 30 minutes, 4 nights a week for the next 8 months. 🎨🖥️ By April you should be able to make a recruiting graphic that is decent enough to say you have some graphic skills!

6. Be great where you are! On time, always learning, over-communicate your goals with your staff! Your current coaches will be your biggest advocates if you work hard for them!

🏀 If you are a current student-athlete:

Make sure you register for the @WBCA1981 ‘So You Want to be a Coach’ program!

💯 I feel like these participants always land! But would also be a good idea to knock out the steps above!
