#switzerland October 2021. I feel like I am living in a country that is letting itself die. 😔

The public think they live in a giant IKEA showroom where nothing bad ever happens and it is their divine right to live the luxurious lives we live no matter what happens - and any warning of a different reality or of scary threats is met with rage.
Denial is not just a river, as they say.

“Every time there’s a wave, there’s another wave that’s going to follow with patients developing new onset long Covid,” said Akiko Iwasaki, an immunologist at Yale University

It wouldn't be difficult to verify that even most pediatricians ignore the following, I'm afraid (from https://t.co/a2yuSYoPTC). But we should never tire of spreading information about long COVID, particularly in children, to accelerate the inevitable breakthrough of the issue.

We wouldn't force children to drink contaminated water to "train their stomachs."
Why are we forcing them to breathe pathogen-laden air in unventilated classrooms, exposing them to endless reinfections? 🚰❌💨

Brain damage from SARS-CoV-2 is so strange. I have not been able to read a book since my infection in 2020. But I am a massive Jane Austen fan and recently friends sent me the Pride and Prejudice dvd and my husband bought me the dvds of Emma, Sense and Sensibility, and Persuasion and, before a scene plays, I can recite an entire speech, such as Mr. Knightley's proposal to Emma, or Captain Wentworth's letter to Anne Elliot, or Elizabeth Bennet's refusal to Mr. Darcy. Word for word. But if pressed I cannot recall the names of the actors. Somedays I don't know the day of the week and struggle to remember basic facts of what is happening in the news and it causes panic. #LongCovid is caused by a novel virus. It is not nothing new. It is devastating. Please protect yourselves and your children.

"Getting infected trains a child's immune system!" We've all heard this claim.
But five groundbreaking studies focusing on children and young people prove the exact opposite: repeated COVID infections don't "exercise" the immune system—they compound damage and increase risks

[Redkiraz @Redkiraz]

OK, people don't read studies. Could they at least look at 4 images please

Children <10-12 y.o. "are supposed to be the most important stages for the brain development, which implicates that the effects of viral infection on children’s brains can be more destructive"

🇨🇭Infected with Covid in 2020, she was 20 y.o.
Since then, a young woman has been lying in her darkened room and just wanted to die
A few weeks ago, she received the notification that she would receive a full disability pension, unlike the majority of those affected. Too late...

"We treat the atmosphere like it’s an American Express Black credit card with no limit, and when the bill comes due, payable in fires, floods, and famines,we call it “weather.”We call it “resilience.” 1/2

“Degrowth is not recession. Recession is chaotic, cruel, and unplanned. It is a heart attack. Degrowth is surgery. It is the deliberate, democratic, and just contraction of the energy- and material-intensive sectors that are actively murdering our life-support systems. Degrowth means flying less, building less concrete, producing less plastic junk, and yes, accepting that a country’s health is not measured by its quarterly GDP report. It means working fewer hours, sharing more, repairing instead of replacing, and valuing care, art, and community over cargo ships full of sneakers.”

(It is Hard to say degrowth when your Job is to say GDP to keep up the Illusion we can pay back our debt - be it ecological, climate or extraction - the Moment we accept decline is irreversibel the ponzi ends…)
