@gamora9872 @CadeRGrimm That's really awesome you're going to get Bert more space π and plants - I'm sure he'll love that! Just no plastic ones, they can rip their fins on them when tail-boxing them or even just swimming by. (Tail-boxing is when a betta whacks a plant with their tail)
@gamora9872 @CadeRGrimm Cleaning in a tank is so simple with a gravel vac: you stick one end in the tank & the other in a container (I use a big jug), move it over the gravel, it sucks up the debris & some water, then you just pour in fresh water. I like this one, has a hand pump https://t.co/Sp9XX7Ar7G
@gamora9872 @CadeRGrimm My all time favorite fish product is the Sea Chem Ammonia Alert gauge: lets you know when cleaning is needed ammonia-wise (still have to do cleaning for gravel debris & 25% water changes to remove the nitrogen - a gravel vac makes this so easy!) >> https://t.co/CuZ5vOaklp
@gamora9872 @CadeRGrimm For example, this pretty plant: https://t.co/pdxPaLkci8 is not an underwater plant π€¦ it's a dracena you often see at Walmart in the Angel plants section (planted)
@gamora9872 @CadeRGrimm You can get bamboo at a hardware store if you want some to stick out the top if the tank (I like the look of that). For the dry pet store plants, I've had good luck with the rosette swords but not the Amazon swords. π€· I had great luck with the Cyprus Helferi (water grass)
@gamora9872 @CadeRGrimm The dry plants have the benefit of being relatively bacteria free whereas plants you get out if their tanks come with all bacteria that us in their tank... So I recommend picking a 'dry' plant you like and doing a quick search on your phone about it before buying. Also...
@gamora9872 @CadeRGrimm Yep, a lot of people think they like small spaces but it's just a myth. A 5 gal or more is ideal (and so so much less cleaning π). Some of the dry plants sold at major pet stores that are labeled as aquarium plants, aren't actually water plants. However...
@jackelineexoxo @mamakardashiian Bigger tanks are better though.. dont need as much cleaning π and you get to see them swim around more and TAIl-BOX ππ₯ on plants (so awesome, & good exercise), and watch them build big bubble nests, etc.
@gamora9872 @CadeRGrimm Hi Bert! π Bert needs more room! Can't see him good! Small bowls like that are too stressful for them & for you (all that cleaning! π·). They don't live long without clean water π You can grab a tank for about $15, a filter would be great too. Let me know if you have any ?s π
@kapbermudez Beautiful! It's a myth that bettas can live in bowls though. They die much more quickly in a small space because it's too difficult to keep clean, and to keep warm (they're tropical). Plus in a tank you get to see them tail-box plants & build bubble nests & swim around more. π
@Forever_Tanisha @goldennxvibesss No, not a bowl, unless it's a really huge bowl. It's a myth bettas don't need much space. Small bowls are too stressful on you (all that cleaning π·) & on them. Too hard to keep warm too. Plus, with more space you get to see them tail-box π₯π and build bubble nests, etc.
