NY Towns Share New Pumper; Buying Demo Model Saved Hundreds of Thousands: https://t.co/qX9KOXLDsZ
South Glens Falls Fire Company President John Cox said the company has ordered a Fouts FB-94 1,000-gallon pumper truck, which the company will use instead of the older one. The cost of the new truck was around $800,000, which Cox said was a “tremendous deal.” Typically, a new truck of similar build would cost between $1.2 and $1.4 million and take three to four years for delivery. Cox explained to the village board that the fire company was able to expedite the truck because of other contracted purchases they’ve made with the manufacturer.
“They have this as a demo, and they’re willing to give us a tremendous deal on it to move forward,” he said.

Fuller Road (NY) Fire Department Celebrates 100th Year of Service; Running New Rosenbauer Rescue-Pumper: https://t.co/CtT4eLKYIn
Fuller Road (NY) Fire Department, one of a dozen departments in Albany County’s Town of Colonie, is celebrating 100 years of providing fire and rescue services to the population of its 12-square-mile fire district from its station on Central Avenue. The department’s staff includes four paid full-time station keepers and 45 volunteer firefighters, protecting a nighttime population of 20,000 people that swells to 100,000 during the daytime due to the district’s many commercial, industrial, and retail shopping centers.
Mike Romano, Fuller Road’s fire chief, says the department’s first-due rig on most calls is its new Rosenbauer rescue-pumper, which he calls a “do-everything vehicle.” “When we spec’d the truck we knew we had to try to do everything with one piece of apparatus, so we designed it to bring all the tools to the job and figure out what was needed there,” he says.

10 Maryland Fire Departments Prepare on New Worcester County (MD) Fire Training Tower: https://t.co/78jDDcKWLZ
Worcester County, Maryland, the state’s easternmost county, covers approximately 475 square miles with a diverse population. It comprises high-rise residential occupancies, hotels, and condominiums; residential development including townhomes and single-family neighborhoods; and rural farmland, agricultural communities, and widely dispersed single-family homes. That diversity was one of the reasons why Worcester County needed a modern training facility capable of supporting training for everything from a residential structure fire to operations involving a multi-story building.
The committee spent considerable time determining what would serve the county best over the next several decades, visiting training facilities across Maryland and Delaware to review construction methods, tower configurations, burn systems, and training features. At the end of its deliberations, the county chose WHP Training Towers to provide a new training tower using Sourcewell cooperative purchasing.
Joe Kirchner, chief operating officer for WHP Training Towers, says Worcester County chose a three-section design with a four-story tower, a two-story residential/industrial section, and a one-story annex.
Drones have become some of the fastest-growing tools in public safety, and for good reason. What started as technology primarily associated with hobbyists and photographers has evolved into a valuable resource for fire departments, law enforcement agencies, emergency management organizations, and rescue teams.
The FAMA Buyer’s Guide on Public Safety Drone Programs provides a practical introduction to how agencies can successfully incorporate drones into their operations. While the guide covers regulations, training, equipment, and implementation considerations, the overall message is straightforward: Drones can significantly improve public safety operations when they are planned, managed, and used properly.
