@fleckd Offense has been average this season and very good for the past month. Starting pitching is great when healthy. Bullpen is wounded but good when healthy.

So I think they have the talent. Guys on the roster mostly have a good track record. Doesn't mean they'll win, but should.

Don't let certain talk talk show hosta in this town tell you the #Reds don't have the talent to contend. They do. Roster is filled with it. Problem is that so much of it is hurt and / or underperforming. This wouldn't be frustrating if they just didn't have the talent.

Also, this team is hovering around .500 with half the rotation hurt, half the bullpen hurt. Am I frustrated? Yeah! After a 20-11 start? Hell yeah! But they have the talent. Lazy messaging - every year when they struggle a bit.

The #Reds know it. That's why they've sent Friedl and Hayes out recently. That's why Marte and Arroyo are up here now. It took too long to make both of those decisions, but they did get done. Will it help? We'll see. Hopefully so.

The owners' initial proposal was WAY more reasonable than the players'. $171M is a pretty high salary floor, and that's just the starting point of negotiations.

That being said, I expect the lockout to happen. I don't think the owners will settle for no cap anymore.
