Ottawa Fire Department members participated in monthly Mabas Division 25 Technical Rescue training this morning!

May 2024 was a busy month for the Ottawa Fire Department!
We responded to 359 emergency calls with a total of 542 Vehicle Responses.

During National Nurses Week, OFD extends our deepest gratitude to the Nurses who serve our community and work daily with our members as we transport to OSF St. Elizabeth. Your hard work and dedication to caring for others doesn’t go unnoticed.

Shift 3 had the pleasure of putting our new inflatable fire safety house in service today!
Pictured are members of Ottawa Rotary Clubs who made a generous donation to the purchase of the inflatable and visitors from Friendship House who stopped by for a tour!

Ottawa firefighters are currently assisting CSX rail with a small propane leak. The leak is controlled and there is no threat to the public or environment.

This week, Lieutenant Jake Niewinski and OPD Officer Brett Wiedeman were awarded the 2023 Brain Sember Award.
This award is given to first responders in recognition of courageous and life saving actions in the line of duty.

With the recent addition of battery powered extrication equipment at OFD, Ottawa firefighters have spent the past few weeks participating in extrication training.
It’s a good opportunity to become proficient with our new tools so when an emergency arises, we’ll be prepared.

We had a special visitor! Crews responded to a call for injuries Jace had sustained June 1st. They were able to adapt to limited resources, getting him the help he needed. We’re so happy to see him recovering quickly and touched that he stopped by! Stay strong little buddy!

Today, we received $500.00 from Northern Partnership and the CoBank Sharing Success Program.
This donation will be put towards a Fire Safety House for use in school visits and other pub Ed opportunities. Thanks to everyone involved in the choosing of OFD for this opportunity!

We are proud to announce that several OFD members were recognized last night with the 100 Club Valor Award. This award is presented for performance above and beyond the call of duty. It was awarded for a structure fire response on December 22nd 2022.
