On Saturday we took part in the Airport Emergency Exercise on Westray, testing the emergency response plan. Officers along with other emergency responders used the exercise to expanded their learning and knowledge of partners capabilities.

Stromness streets are narrow and large vehicles parked in small spaces for cars makes it very difficult for emergency services to negotiate them. Please be considerate when parking. @ENERCON_UK Thank you.
We want to be a modern fire and rescue service that is ready for the challenges of Scotland’s future.
There are areas we could change to deliver our emergency service differently.

Absolutely phenomenal effort from Lerwick crew raising a massive £5000 at their open day. Delighted to accept half for Family Support Trust with the rest going to local charities. Well done Shetland! 👏
I had the pleasure of leading an Engagement Session tonight with the crew at @FireStromness. Great discussion on topics related to leadership, management and culture whilst learning lots about the unique environment the crew operates within.
Congratulations to all the SFRS team from Shetland on passing their ICAT Intermediate Trauma Courses what a fantastic committed team. Hope to see you all again soon
How would you feel if a poorly parked vehicle delayed firefighters reaching an incident?
A 10ft gap is needed to allow a fire engine to pass by. When you park check there's enough space. If there’s not enough room please move your vehicle - someone’s life could depend on it.
Really enjoyable HAZMAT consolidation exercise tonight. Use of GTS, HAN1/2 completion, improvised decontamination and a chance for FF to act as OIC of scenario, good prep for upcoming TTR refresher.
Think you could do this with us? Looking to hear from those interested 🚒👍🏻
It's official, my tenure with @sfrs_fst has come to an end. I've met some fantastic people & had some great times but now it's time for a new challenge. Thanks so much to all of you who embraced my FST message & supported me in my role, you made my work a pleasure
