The Memorial is here, which means everyone gets to remember that “looks pure on TV” and “fun for a 12 handicap” are not always related.
Some tournament courses are better as television.
Some are better as actual golf courses.
The rare ones are both.
You get one PGA Tour venue for your own course ledger. Where are you playing?
The best old courses do not feel old because they are protected.
They feel old because nobody has solved them.
Tournament courses age well when the questions still make sense.
That’s harder to pull off than people think.
“Hard” is not a personality.
A good hard course gives you options and consequences.
A bad hard course gives you a reload and a headache.

Hard because every miss is dead, every green rejects everything, and the round takes five hours is another.
