Drawing new maps of hope. Today is the 60th anniversary of the conciliar Declaration "Gravissimum Educationis", on the extreme importance and relevance of education to human life. With that text, the Second Vatican Council reminded the Church that education is not an accessory, but is itself the real work of evangelisation: it is the concrete way that the Gospel becomes education, relation, culture. #ApostolicLetter
One cannot love God without extending one’s love to the poor. Love for our neighbor is tangible proof of the authenticity of our love for God. The Lord himself teaches us: “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me” (Mt 25:40). #DilexiTe
Dear Roma, Sinti, and Traveller brothers and sisters, you can be living witnesses of three essential truths: to trust in God alone, to cling to no worldly good, and to show an exemplary faith through your deeds and words. Living in this way is not easy. It is learned by receiving God’s blessing and allowing Him to transform our hearts. #Jubilee2025
Pope: Justice must be animated by wisdom, love, and mercy
Pope Leo XIV reflects on justice and its function in society at the Jubilee of Justice, inviting participants “to always express to the fullest the exercise of justice in the service of the people, with eyes fixed on God".
Living synodality in the #Family requires “walking together,” sharing sorrows and joys, engaging in respectful and sincere dialogue among all members, and learning to listen to one another and make important family decisions together. https://t.co/DM3V8AQ7wn
The true consolation we must offer to those around us is showing that peace is possible, and that it grows within each of us, if we do not stifle it. May the leaders of nations pay particular attention to the cries of so many innocent children and ensure them a future that protects and consoles them. https://t.co/bUUKTw5lW5
Entire populations are crushed by the weight of violence, hunger, and war, and they cry out for peace. Their immense cry challenges us to pray, take action to end all violence, and bring peace to those who suffer. It pleads with God, whose heart trembles with compassion, to bring His Kingdom.
Violence we have suffered cannot be erased, but when we grant forgiveness to those who offend us, we experience a foretaste of the Kingdom of God on earth. It is the fruit of God’s work that puts an end to evil.
Dear friends, today I turn seventy years old. I give thanks to the Lord and to my parents; and I thank all those who have remembered me in their prayers.
Today we celebrate the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross: for the immense love with which God has transformed the means to death into an instrument of life, embracing it for our salvation, teaching us that nothing can separate us from him and that his love is greater than our own sin.
I would like that today we may together begin to build a culture of reconciliation. We must meet one another, heal our wounds, and forgive the wrongs we did and did not do, but whose effects we still carry. There are no enemies — only brothers and sisters. What we need are gestures and policies of reconciliation.
We face moments when holding things inside can slowly consume us. Jesus teaches us not to be afraid to cry out, as long as our cry is sincere, humble, and directed to the Father. A cry is never pointless, if it is born of love. And it is never ignored, if it is entrusted to God. It is one way to continue to believe that another world is possible. #GeneralAudience
“They encourage us with their words: “Not I, but God,” as Carlo used to say. And Pier Giorgio: “If you have God at the center of all your actions, then you will reach the end.” This is the simple but winning formula of their holiness. It is also the type of witness we are called to follow, in order to enjoy life to the full and meet the Lord in the feast of heaven.”
To the intercession of the Saints and the Virgin Mary, we entrust our unceasing prayer for peace, especially in the Holy Land and Ukraine, and in every other land blood-stained by war. To those in power, I repeat: listen to the voice of conscience! The apparent victories achieved with weapons, which sow death and destruction, are in reality defeats and never bring peace or security! God does not want war, he wants peace, and he strengthens those who are committed to leaving behind the spiral of hatred and taking the path of dialogue.
Saints Pier Giorgio Frassati and Carlo Acutis are an invitation to all of us, especially young people, not to squander our lives, but to direct them upwards and make them masterpieces. https://t.co/aXAe9fjN35
Cultivating our heart takes effort. It is the greatest work. Yet by digging deep and humbling ourselves, we draw ever closer to the Lord, who emptied Himself to become like us.
