Just wanted to follow up with everyone.

Like I mentioned in the post below, I recently had a developer from Rare reach out to me after watching my video about how much I miss Sea of Thieves and how I feel like the game has gotten off course.

They told me it was a hard video to watch, but they also understood where I was coming from and agreed with a lot of what I said.

We ended up having a really real and honest conversation about the game and where things are at. I walked away from that conversation feeling more hopeful about Sea of Thieves than I have in a long time.

The truth is I’ve never stopped loving this game. I know I’ve been hard on it. Probably really hard at times. But it has always come from a place of wanting to see Sea of Thieves succeed. I miss that feeling of a shared-world adventure where you never knew what was going to happen when you logged in. I want to see the game find that again.

After that conversation, I also reached out to Rare about the reasons I originally stepped down from the Partner Program, specifically around the Bruno situation and the concerns I had.

I obviously can’t speak for Rare or share things that aren’t mine to share, but from the conversations I’ve had, there have been changes around the Partner Program that I find really encouraging. I’ve also been told there is more information that will be talked about when they’re able to talk about it.

What I can say is that some of those changes are already starting to take shape, and after the conversations I’ve had, I feel good about the direction things are moving. It’s given me the confidence to feel like returning to the Sea of Thieves Partner Program is something I can do.

It’s honestly been a crazy week. I did NOT expect any of this lol.

I’m sure some people will give me flak for returning, and that’s okay. I stand by why I stepped away when I did. I also feel confident about returning now based on the conversations I’ve had and what I’ve learned.

I love @SeaOfThieves. I always have. Maybe it’s the pirate in me, but I can feel the winds changing.

For the first time in a long time, I think they’re blowing in the right direction. I’m excited to see where they take us. 🏴‍☠️

Recently, someone at @RareLtd reached out to me after watching my latest YouTube video about how much I miss @SeaOfThieves, but also how I feel like the ship has gotten a bit off course. I laid out a lot of my thoughts in that video.

They told me it was a hard video to watch, but they agreed with a lot of what I had to say. They also shared that they want to see the seas get back on track and acknowledged that it’s going to take time to get there.

I’m a nobody. The fact that someone took the time to reach out and have such an open and honest conversation with me genuinely meant a lot.

And the truth is, that conversation gave me hope.

It actually inspired me to jump back into the game a bit this week. The seas may still feel the same as they did before, but knowing there are people behind the game who care deeply about its future and aren’t giving up on it gave me some hope again too.

I think some people believe I hate Sea of Thieves, and that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Have I been hard on the game? Absolutely. But it comes from a place of love. I’ve spent thousands of hours sailing these seas over the years. This game has been a massive part of my life, my content, and my community. I care about Sea of Thieves, and I genuinely want to see it succeed.

So with that being said, you’ll probably see me sailing the seas a little more often.

Not because everything is suddenly fixed, but because I have a little more hope for the future of the game.

Custom Seas is going to be a lot of fun. It feels like it's been designed more with content creators in mind than the average player but I think most people will still get a good laugh out of it and create some memorable moments.

The problem is that fun side content and seasonal content are not really the same thing. If this is supposed to help carry an entire Season alongside the occasional returning limited time event then it just is not enough by itself.

Season 21 needs to land with some real weight behind it. Adventure Mode needs meaningful additions. New ships, new islands or even entirely new regions. Give players fresh reasons to explore the world and engage with the game in different ways.

What we do not need is another couple of delivery missions wearing a fancy new outfit and pretending to be a major update. We have been sailing that particular route for quite a while now.

#SeaOfThieves is at its best when it surprises people and gets the community genuinely excited to jump in and see what is new. It feels like it is time for that again. Anything less will mean terrible engagement.
