2023 was a landmark year for Pixels as we became one of the largest web3 games by DAU, which surpassed 180K. Our explosive growth can be attributed to two core factors: our community and our migration to Ronin, Sky Mavis’ proprietary blockchain. Behind every successful web3 game is a thriving, engaged, and passionate community. We started with a core, devoted community that has only expanded as Pixels was introduced to the players in the Ronin ecosystem.

In 2024, Pixels is stepping into its next chapter of growth fueled by the listing of $PIXEL on Binance. $PIXEL is set to enable strong gameplay while supporting a robust ecosystem. We are building upon a strong foundation created alongside our community and we are excited to continue to make web3 a better place for all gamers.

Evolution of Tokenomics:

For any web3 game to achieve long-term success, sustainability must always be prioritized.

We aim to combine good game design, lessons from the leading web2 games, and what’s working from the top web3 games into delivering what we believe to be a long-term and sustainable economy for our game.

We have evolved how we think about our tokens in-game and have made the strategic decision to focus on $PIXEL and to phase out $BERRY. All $BERRY holders will be rewarded with $PIXEL, with the reward proportionate to the amount of $BERRY owned.

Why This Approach?

Currently, $BERRY experiences a daily inflation rate of approximately 2%. Although Chapter 2 will address complications arising from this inflationary model, we have opted to implement early measures to sustain the economy. This move allows us to build a more sustainable ecosystem and positions us for a stronger future, without the challenges associated with managing a soft currency on-chain.

$BERRY, as a soft currency, poses challenges in managing within a live player base and economy. Most MMOs struggle with balancing an inflationary economy, and Web3 technology exacerbates the issue by enabling farmers to grind harder and sell their earnings more easily.

Addressing numerous issues, Chapter 2 aims to safeguard $PIXEL from similar abuses. Players must strategize, collaborate, and complete tasks at random intervals to earn tokens. To maintain a fair playing field, $BERRY will be replaced with an off-chain coin, effective immediately.

We intend to reduce sell-pressure by implementing measures that limit its ease of sale on the market or decentralized exchange (DEX) for the off-chain coin. This strategy also addresses regulatory concerns related to money-transmitting licenses, ensuring continued user participation in core gameplay loops, especially in regions like the US and UK. And, by concentrating on a single currency, we aim to streamline the project's economic model, enhancing overall efficiency and player experience.

Next Steps for $BERRY Holders:

To be as fair to the community as possible, we are committed to rewarding $BERRY holders with $PIXEL, with the reward proportionate to the amount of $BERRY owned. This will be done in-game but will reflect both on-chain and off-chain balances of $BERRY.

$BERRY will be substituted in game with a new off-chain currency: coins. Players will subsequently have the chance to exchange $PIXEL for coins, gaining a gameplay advantage.

→ I have $BERRY in-game already: Great! You’ll receive $PIXEL automatically.
→ I have $BERRY outside the game: Open the Pixels Dashboard, and navigate to the exchange page. Here, you can exchange your $BERRY for $PIXEL.

The reward will be proportionate to the value of $BERRY owned. However, if you're part of that second group, you're going to want to act quickly. The sooner you convert $BERRY to $PIXEL, the better the conversion rate will be.

We will be exchanging $PIXEL for 1000 $BERRY for 7.6175 $PIXEL.

Who qualifies for $PIXEL rewards?

P2A 1.0:
To qualify, players needed to earn points and rank within the top 20k on the leaderboard. This was done by playing the game, being a top player, completing quests, sharing Pixels with friends, and owning & holding Pixels NFT Farm Land.

Please note: Landowners seeking to fully unlock their claims from P2A 1.0 must maintain ownership of at least 80% of the number of Farm Lands they held at the time of the event. They do not need to be the same lands.

P2A 2.0:
Similarly to Season 1, participants earned badges that translated into points, determining their rank on the leaderboard.

Players eligible for $PIXEL rewards fall into two categories:
➡️ Top 7,000 Leaderboard Placement: Users ranking within the top 7,000 on the leaderboard.
➡️ 1,000 Random Winners: From participants who earned over 3,000 points, 1,000 users will be randomly selected for rewards.

How & when to claim $PIXEL:
Timeline:
➡️Pixels will spend 1 week doing a bot sweep to remove any unfair gameplay. Pay attention to your rank - you might rank up! Players will have a short window to appeal leaderboard removal.
🚨Final ranks & points will be posted & confirmed on January 26, 2024
➡️Users will be able to claim their reward during the TGE (token generation event). A confirmed date is tbd - pay attention to our Discord and X (Twitter) Announcements, and attend our weekly Live Stream AMAs.

Things to note:
➡️Users will receive their allocation in-game via the Dashboard. Players may need to complete a small task to unlock their claim.
➡️Players do not need to have Pixels VIP to claim or withdraw $PIXEL airdrop rewards. This ensures that all qualifying players can enjoy their reward.
➡️If you earned points from owning land or pets, you will need to hold a similar amount of the NFTs at the time of the claim to fully claim the airdrop.

How are rewards determined?
Rewards are determined by points:
➡️Throughout both P2A 1.0 and P2A 2.0, players earned points, which will dictate the claimable amount. It's important to note that the conversion is not a simple 1:1 ratio, and Pixels reserves the right to adjust rewards based on various factors.
➡️Our goal is to have a balanced and healthy distribution of rewards, ensuring a fair split among landowners, active players, and referrals.

🚨Your exact allocation amount will be made just before the $PIXEL Token Generation Event (TGE).

What about bots?
If you scroll up to ‘Overall Timeline’, you’ll see that we are taking 1 week to remove bots & any unfair gameplay from the ranks of the P2A 2.0. We have already done this for P2A 1.0.

We are unable to disclose specific details about our bot detection criteria to maintain confidentiality and prevent such information from falling into the hands of potential botters. Rest assured, Pixels has a dedicated staff member committed to identifying and removing bots from the game, as we take this very seriously.

The advantage here is that a few players who were just outside the top 7,000 might find themselves included in the rewards!

Will there be a Season 3 of rewards?
No. This was the last chance to earn $PIXEL before the launch.
