I am following this account because I stumbled in this video reportage about #Eritrea, which is the closest to reality I have seen by an #African Media. I think people and especially #Africans should follow this type of accounts...
Ethiopia is massing troops near Tigray amid PM Ahmed’s push to regain access to the Red Sea.
The last conflict in this region killed a stunning 600,000 people.
PM ABIY AHMED = DANGEROUS = INCOMPETENT = CORRUPT.
Ethiopia's Potemkin Party: another despicable display of war psychosis and provocative saber-rattling at Hawassa on the weekend on the occasion of the "Inauguration of the Special Operations Command"!
The Potemkin Party continues to spew and ramp up, at almost every public occasion, toxic and provocative vitriol against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of its neighbour (s) in flagrant contravention of international law and established norms and parameters of regional peace and stability.
The pattern/war-recipe remains perilously the same:
*Barely cryptic declaration by the President of the Oromia Region two years ago that "Irrecha will be celebrated in the Red Sea (Assab), next year";
* Public display, at the Inauguration of Military Recruits few months ago, of an official Map of Ethiopia that unlawfully incorporates the port city of Assab and Eritrea's southern coastal territories;
* And these days, outrageous "announcement" on the weekend by the Chief of the Potemkin Party on the establishment of "an elite force" to police and ensure maritime security in the Red Sea from the tip of Somalia to Massawa (in Eritrea).
*The ill-advised MOU that the PP regime signed with Somaliland; the RSF training camp it has installed in southwestern Ethiopia reportedly under the bidding of the UAE; complete the picture of its irresponsible and reckless acts of fomenting conflict in the Horn of Africa region.
Poignant as it is, the Potemkin Party seems to believe that it has carte blanche to flout international law at its whimsical will in the current global climate of uncertainty and greater turbulence.
Indeed, it is indulging in these dangerous acts of aggression and regional destabilization while it continues to simultaneously seek - with a bowl in hand - financial bailouts from the IMF as well as other multilateral donors. Furthermore, over 21.4 million Ethiopians are seething under extreme poverty and continue to remain fully dependent on international humanitarian handouts for their survival.
The maritime security of the Red Sea is otherwise under the purview and prerogative of, and guaranteed by, the littoral States.
That the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Horn of Africa countries is inviolable is also too palpable to merit elaboration.

Press Release:
When Academic Analysis Excuses Aggression:
Setting the Record Straight on Eritrea’s #Sovereignty
The Embassy of the State of #Eritrea categorically rejects the misleading, unbalanced, and politically loaded article published by The #Conversation on 15 January 2026. The piece purports to warn against the danger of war in the Horn of #Africa, yet paradoxically normalizes, obscures, and at times rationalizes the Ethiopian regime’s openly revisionist and aggressive rhetoric to advance its agenda of “sovereign access to the Red Sea” through coercion or force against Eritrea; a sovereign member of the #UN and the #AU.
At its core, the article inverts responsibility and erodes legal clarity. International law is applied selectively; scrutinizing Eritrea while glossing over Ethiopia’s explicit illegal territorial claims. Africa’s binding principle of respect for colonial borders is conspicuously absent, and threats of force are downplayed when they emanate from Addis Ababa, despite their destabilizing implications. Equally misleading is the insinuation that Eritrea has “denied” #Ethiopia normative access to the sea. Eritrea has never, at any point in its history, opposed or obstructed commercial access to the #Red #Sea through lawful bilateral arrangements. What it unequivocally rejects is the conflation of commercial access with sovereignty or ownership. Such asymmetry does not warn against war; it sanitizes the logic of territorial revisionism and risks legitimizing #aggression long rejected by Africa and the international community.
Ethiopia’s claims are illegal, revisionist, and dangerous. Its leadership has publicly framed access to Eritrean ports as an “existential” matter and a “historical correction.” This rhetoric is not benign. It constitutes a direct challenge to the foundational principles of the international order, including the inviolability of borders, territorial integrity, and the sovereign equality of states, as enshrined in the UN Charter and reaffirmed by the 1964 #OAU #Cairo Resolution, which binds African states to respect colonial boundaries. No state, large or small, landlocked or coastal, possesses a sovereign right to another country’s territory or #ports. Access to the sea is governed by international law, commercial agreements, and #peaceful #cooperation, not nostalgia, threats, or force.
There is no doubt that narrative warfare is being systematically deployed by #Ethiopia|s ruling Prosperity Party (aka Potemkin Party) to legitimize unlawful regional ambitions and to deflect responsibility for rising tensions in the #Horn of #Africa. This practice represents a dangerous departure from good-faith diplomacy and directly undermines the foundational principles of international relations enshrined in the Charter of the @UN.
Efforts to repackage expansionist or coercive objectives in the language of self-defense, victimhood, or historical entitlement are not benign rhetorical devices. They constitute a clear violation of both the spirit and letter of Article 2(4) of the @UN Charter, which unequivocally prohibits the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any State. When such narratives go unchallenged, they risk conferring implicit legitimacy on conduct that international law expressly forbids.
Equally troubling is the growing instrumentalization of institutional platforms. Multilateral and regional mechanisms are increasingly used selectively, to advance unilateral political agendas, rather than to uphold principled multilateralism. The erosion of institutional neutrality, whether through silence, selective engagement, or tacit endorsement, compromises the credibility of these forums and weakens their ability to contribute meaningfully to peace, security, and regional cooperation.
#Eritrea underscores a fundamental point often ignored in contemporary discourse: multilateralism is not an end in itself. It is a means to uphold legality, sovereign equality, and mutual respect among States. When institutions fail to act impartially, or become vehicles for revisionist narratives, disengagement must not be mischaracterized as isolationism. It is, instead, a principled refusal to legitimize institutional failure or political expediency.
The failure to confront revisionist narratives, particularly those that seek to retroactively justify coercive claims or normalize unlawful precedents, poses a serious threat to both regional and international order. In the #Horn of #Africa, where borders and sovereignties are legally defined and internationally recognized, tolerating such #revisionism would erode established norms and encourage destabilizing behavior with far-reaching consequences.
The current resurgence of what has aptly been described as “Erifluenza” is neither incidental nor reactive. It represents a calculated narrative offensive designed to obscure expansionist objectives, reframe accountability, and manufacture false moral equivalence.
#Eritrea’s positions, grounded in #sovereignty, #legality, and the pursuit of genuine regional #stability, remain consistent and firmly on record. The credibility deficit does not lie with #Eritrea, but with those seeking to rewrite recent history in order to justify future transgressions.
#Eritrea remains committed to peaceful coexistence, lawful regional cooperation, and principled multilateral engagement, while resolutely rejecting any attempt to normalize coercion through disinformation or institutional manipulation....

Hilarious! The circus .... Potemkin Party (PP)'s Parrots Show, is on.
These Ambassadors have no creativity whatsoever, or modicum of ingenuity, as they sheepishly carry out the smear campaign they are instructed to recycle using the same script issued from the Foreign Ministry HQ.
Potemkin Party's declared "war manifesto" seems to be morphing - through constant packaging and re-packaging - into "the aggrieved party" mode these days.
Indeed, the incessant and toxic mantra on "acquiring sovereign access to the sea by force if necessary .. the imperative to project naval power in the Red Sea.. the revisionist and blasphemous pronouncements on Eritrea's independence...etc. " that the war-mongering PP has been floating for the last two years has been temporarily turned on "mute-mode" in the past few weeks.
The transparent ploy is designed to hoodwink public opinion by rationalizing the unprovoked and reckless war that the PP has been itching to unleash against Eritrea for the past two years as a "legitimate act of self defense".
This is the gist of the long and monotonous diatribe that PP's Foreign Minister delivered at a "Foreign Policy Forum" in Addis Ababa on Thursday this week whose central theme was on "Eritrea's perennial acts of destabilization against Ethiopia".
Strange as it may sound, PP's senior officials seem to suffer from acute deficits of institutional memory - they claim they are not able "to retrieve them from Cabinet, Parliamentary and other archives". In the event and to refresh the memories of the FM and his Potemkin Party colleagues in a broad-brash and snapshot manner, we will dwell on the following indelible historical facts:
1. Eritrea's three decades war of national liberation was sparked because Ethiopia unilaterally abrogated the sham Federation and annexed Eritrea in flagrant contravention of international law. The Federal Act itself was a blatant violation of Eritrea's inalienable rights of decolonization. Ethiopia's surrogate role in the original illicit act; annexation, and intermittent relapse of its expansionist and irredentist agendas were, and continue to remain, the singular causes of the periodic conflicts that have raged between the two countries.
2. In a nutshell, Eritrea has invariably been on the receiving end for the costly and unnecessary conflicts that successive Ethiopian regime have and continue to unleash because they covet their neighbour's land and endowments.
2. The vicious 1998-2000 border war between the two countries was unleashed by the incumbent Ethiopian regime under the putative pretext of "dispute on Badme and its environs". Although they are singing to a different tune these days, PP's senior officials - including the current Army Chief of Staff - confessed only four years ago that they were ashamed and embarrassed at the time when the Parliament accused Eritrea for aggression and declared war in May 1998 while the army had been given explicit instructions to unleash war weeks earlier. The maximalist agenda of the war went beyond regaining the "disputed territory". In the early weeks of the war, the then Deputy Foreign Minister, Tekeda Alemu, publicly announced to a gathering of the Ethiopian community in Washington that "capturing Assab" was one of the central objectives of the war. During the 3rd Offensive, the Ethiopian regime halted the US-EU facilitated negotiations in Algiers while the Ethiopian army launched a massive military assault on Assab with disastrous consequences. Ethiopia signed the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement only after, and because of, this debacle. The Moratorium on Air Strikes brokered by President Clinton in July 1998; the Technical Arrangements; the Algiers Agreement, and later the EEBC Award were violated by incumbent Ethiopian regimes because they were not sincerely committed to nurturing and consolidating good-neighbourly ties between the two countries on the basis of each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
3. The Potemkin Party is suffering from the same irredentist malaise with its current war agenda cloaked in "sovereign access to the sea". The accusation alluding to Eritrea's visceral stance and "Isaias doctrine" of fomenting perpetual "destabilization" of Ethiopia is too ludicrous to merit elaboration. Small Eritrea must indeed have Providential powers if it is potent enough to destabilize its much larger neighbour for decades. The truth is the wars that are raging in virtually all of Ethiopia's Regions are incubated by the regime's own flawed governance architecture.
4. The FM further digresses to what has become normative among PP officials and trolls these days of disparaging Eritrea's economic endowments and growth as well as its governance architecture. Again, this is too audacious coming as it does from a country whose economy is overstressed and burdened by debilitating poverty in spite of over 84 billion US$ of receiving international development assistance over the last three decades; periodic IMF financial bailouts; and cyclical rounds of intensive care (Food Safety nets etc.). Currently, 21.4 million Ethiopian are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance, while 68.7% are multidimentionally poor. And as mentioned above, the country is seething under spiraling conflicts that emanate from misguided governance structures that polarize society along entrenched and centrifugal ethnic cleavages.
We could go on and on.. but it would be meaningless: "ዘረባ ኣደይ ለቱ፥ ኣየውፍር ኣየእቱ"፥ ስለዝኾነ እቲ ነገሩ!
President Isaias Afwerki attends the Inauguration Ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum held this evening in Giza on the site overlooking Egypt’s three great pyramids.
It must be clearly stated that #Ethiopia - since its inception as a country has never, at any point in history, possessed sovereign access to the #RedSea. The only time it used Eritrean ports was during its illegal #occupation of Eritrea - an occupation rejected by the Eritrean people and defeated through a 30-year protracted struggle for #independence. Eritrea’s #sovereignty and territorial integrity was achieved through enormous sacrifice and is not subject for any negotiation or revision. Any attempt by Ethiopia’s current PP leadership to lay claim to Eritrean land or ports like Assab or any other place for that matter, is not only historically false but also an open violation of international law and the 1963 OAU principle that upholds colonial boundaries. Such reckless rhetoric serves only to destabilize the region and expose the aggressor nature of those who utter it. Eritrea’s sovereignty is not a topic for debate; it is a settled and irreversible reality.

Main thrust of negative western media/diplomatic campaigns against #Eritrea revolve around one theme: regional defense architectures that do not contain “made-in Washington, minor components from Brussels, label” must be viciously condemned. Z Garden’s imperial hubris on display!
