“When you are dying, at least in my limited experience, you start remembering everything.” Tatiana Schlossberg, the daughter of Caroline Kennedy, writes about receiving a terminal diagnosis. https://t.co/cqpafPbNOj
“Today I was pleased to lodge the Parliamentary Friends of Bowel Cancer with my co-chair the member for Adelaide. Bowel cancer has affected my own family, and today I send a shoutout and my best wishes to Trent. Tegan, from my electorate of Nicholls, is in the gallery and one of the most inspirational people I've met. Prior to her visit today, we shared a coffee in her hometown of Kilmore, and she told me her story of being diagnosed with bowel cancer at age 39. Tegan has been through so much, but she maintains an incredibly positive attitude. We owe it to all of those brave ambassadors here today to help raise the level of awareness about early-onset bowel cancer and of how early diagnosis can save lives.” ~ Sam Birrell MP.
Warmest thanks Sam Birrell MP for sharing Tegan’s empowering story and co-chairing the Parliamentary Friends of Bowel Cancer. As well as acknowledging Bowel Cancer Australia’s Call On Canberra and Never2Young Advocacy Agenda in the Statement By Members at Parliament House.
Helping us to raise much-needed awareness and advocate for important policy change in relation to early-onset bowel cancer.

Great news today: the Children’s Cancer Foundation & My Room are jointly gifting $6.4m to @thewomens for a free, national fertility preservation program for children & young people with cancer. I’ve loved working on this!
We've partnered with @Kleenex® to help Australian's develop a better understanding of their poo, the symptoms of bowel cancer and the importance of early detection, because when diagnosed early almost 99 percent of cases can be successfully treated!
Last week the Victorian Paediatric Cancer Consortium Ltd celebrated some big milestones: a new CEO, an independent board & $35m in funding from the Vic state govt, matched by $10m from the Children’s Cancer Foundation. A big day in the fight against #childrenscancer
A new alliance of researchers and philanthropists have joined forces in the fight against childhood cancers.
The consortium puts Victoria’s brightest minds at the forefront of medical science and the search for a cure. https://t.co/XvO7WGisEz @SharnelleVella#7NEWS
Our CEO @Prof_G_McArthur AO this week attended the Victorian Paediatric Cancer Consortium Ltd (VPCC) official launch. He has been appointed to its board and looks forward to championing childhood cancer breakthroughs, for patients and their families. @BenCarrollMP@JaalaPulford
The lack of interrogation of Elle Macpherson's story of healing herself holistically from cancer is a failure of journalism, editing and promotion. I would have died if I'd ignored the science. My column for @smh@theage

@Leo_Puglisi6@antoinette_news “The colostomy bag crowd”? Really???
What a lovely way to further stigmatise people with difficult medical conditions. Simply disgraceful, @antoinette_news
We need to find answers as to why the rates of bowel cancer diagnoses and deaths in younger people is on the rise.
Please help us reach our $200,000 target to fund early-onset bowel cancer research and build a path toward a cure.

Participation rates in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program have fallen for a second year, which is of concern, given the program's life-saving potential as 99 per cent of bowel cancer cases can be successfully treated when detected early.
Around 6 million Australians aged 50-74 were sent out free bowel cancer screening kits in the mail in 2022, yet only 40 per cent chose to take the test, new data from the program's 2024 Monitoring Report shows.
This figure is a further drop of almost one per cent on participation rates in 2021, which were 40.9 per cent.
Each year over 15,300 Australians are diagnosed with bowel cancer, with 1-in-9 new bowel cancer cases occurring in people under age 50.
Bowel cancer is Australia’s second deadliest cancer, claiming over 5,300 lives each year.
Warmest thanks to @gabyrogers@emcpherson_9@9NewsAUS for continuing to help us raise awareness of bowel cancer and the importance of early detection.
