America’s infrastructure challenges require innovative solutions and @FIU_CEC researchers are leading the way. FIU engineers have developed a breakthrough spray-on Ultra-High-Performance Concrete (UHPC) system designed to repair and strengthen aging bridges faster, more efficiently, and at a lower cost. Funded by @USACEHQ and the @USDOT , this innovative technology has the potential to help address the more than 40,000 structurally deficient bridges across the United States. From research to real-world impact, FIU continues advancing infrastructure solutions that will help build stronger, safer communities for future generations. @United4Infra #engineering #DOT #Innovation #futureready
Powering the future through innovation!🔋☀️
The partnership between @FIU_CEC and @insideFPL is advancing groundbreaking energy research focused on resilience, sustainability, and smarter infrastructure. Through FIU’s Energy, Power, & Sustainability- Intelligence (EPSi) Lab and the FIU-FPL Solar Research Center, the researchers are developing innovative technologies including AI-driven microgrids, renewable energy systems, and battery storage solutions designed to help communities maintain reliable power during extreme weather events. FIU remains committed to helping shape a stronger and more resilient energy future. @United4Infra

Day 3 of #infrastructureweek🚰 Water is a basic necessity, but most times the systems and mechanics behind its availability aren’t thought of until they’ve been compromised.
Today, the Organization of American States and @FIUEnvironment organized the International Water Security Conference where speakers, like Security General of OAS @albert_ramdin and Ambassador of Panema to the OAS @AnaIreneDelgado, where they discussed threats to water security.
Members from our own @FIUEnvironment@FIU_CEC & @FIUCASE attended the dicussion. Todd Crowl and Maria Donoso, shared their thoughts on how to further the nations water security and availability.
This morning, our students had the opportunity to attend “Mornings with Moody,” an ongoing constituent outreach program hosted by Senator @SenAshleyMoody for Floridians visiting Washington, DC.
As part of @TWCInternships National Security Seminar taking place in DC this week, students engaged in important conversations surrounding public service, leadership, and national security.
They were also joined by @FIUalumni Ignacio Olmos and the new Dean of @FIU_CEC, Jack Puleo, making the experience even more meaningful for our students as they continue building connections between academia, policy, and leadership in our nation’s capital.
It is thanks to RDF Labs at FIU and @FIUCarta that allow FIU’s scientists to come together and develop projects like these that help us protect our homes.
What if seawalls could do more than just protect coastlines? 🌊🌱
@fiuarchitecture and @fiuenvironment researchers are testing innovative textured seawall tiles designed to both reduce wave impact and create habitats for marine organisms along urban shorelines. The BIOCAP system uses 3D-printed modular tiles with grooves, pockets, and textured surfaces that mimic natural coastal environments.
Developed by FIU architects and marine biologists, the project aims to improve biodiversity, enhance water quality, and strengthen coastal resilience as communities face rising sea levels and stronger storms. We’re also proud to have a sample of the innovative seawall displayed here at the FIU DC office.
Funded by the @nsfgov and the @epagov , this research highlights how innovative infrastructure can help protect both communities and ecosystems for future generations. #Infrastructureweek #Innovation #FIU #marinebiologist @United4Infra
Congratulations to all the universities that presented their research for the @scicoalition on different areas of infrastructure! Science is a highly collaborative effort and seeing universities from across the nation come together for the betterment of our systems is inspiring.
