@MarkMadDogDavis Why not provide universal healthcare with the trillions we already send to Congress.
Stop spending that money on wars, and drugs. Start spending it on Americans.
@scappaticc54191@MarkMadDogDavis It’s true, the Democrats could have passed universal healthcare, reparations, universal, basic income, but they didn’t.
They did, however, tax the American people which resulted in $30 billion of profit for the health insurance industry.
@Dizc0rz@SizweLo I didn’t choose poverty, but I chose not to stay there. My starting hand sucked, but I played it better than most people dealt the same cards. If outcomes were truly set at birth, none of us from that housing project would’ve made it out.
Nobody chooses to be born into poverty. And, I’m definitely not ignoring what you are talking about. I watched it destroy my family. But I didn’t start making progress until I stopped following in my family’s footsteps – college education, job, mortgage, etc. - and started behaving like wealthy people did.
I retired from my career as a federal salesman at the age of 49. Nine years before that I had nothing saved.
Selling to the federal government was very eye-opening. No matter how terrible the economy was, economic crisis, housing crisis, bail out, Covid - people in the federal space still made incredible sums of money. This is because our government prints it anytime they need it. I asked myself, if the government can print money anytime they want why don’t they help out everyday Americans? Right now we’re $37 trillion in debt, not one problem solved and everybody’s mad at everybody.
One of the companies I worked for helped build USA https://t.co/bBKmgtNQmq. It’s summarizes where all federal dollars are being spent and to whom. All of our money is being used by the military industrial complex to fight wars, and the healthcare industrial complex to reward drug companies and healthcare companies. The Democrats had a super majority during one of Obama‘s terms and instead of passing healthcare for all, they passed the affordable care act which gave health insurance providers an additional $30 billion of profit! Not to mention the portal they built, which cost billions of dollars that didn’t work and was not necessary. Health insurance companies already had their own portals.
Why? I spent so much time supporting the Democrats. I really thought that was the moment. I considered myself a democratic socialist and donated to Bernie Sanders campaign. But in the end he voted for the ACA too. I was devastated.
Congress browbeats corporate America and then invests in the companies that they condemn. They shamelessly insider trade and overspend their allotted budget by almost double annually. Somehow, they can print money anytime they want, but they still have to collect the pennies they get from the bottom 90% of Americans?!
Congress is the system that’s broken. Every last one of them.
@LestaatL@KrollMik123@SizweLo I moved to the murder capital of the world, in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the world, worked seven days a week until I didn’t have to.
Eat my dust, punk.
@KrollMik123@SizweLo I worked for the company that created the transparency engine for USA https://t.co/azZcc2H3Jl.
Our tax dollars are being spent on the military industrial complex. And the healthcare industrial complex. Wake up.
@LestaatL@KrollMik123@SizweLo I worked on a commercial roofing crew and for the Maryland parks. Doing all the hard labor you’re talking about. I made it. You can too. The Internet teaches you how.
It’s not only about making good choices. It’s about making SACRIFICES and demonstrating SELF DISCIPLINE on a daily basis.
Most people have difficulty with this.
Lastly, billionaires aren’t taking money from your paychecks. Congress is. $37 trillion and counting and not one problem solved.
Your criticism is misdirected.
WRONG!!!
Capitalism provides the opportunity for an individual to make a series of decisions which can lead to prosperity.
REMINDER: YOU ARE THE ONE MAKING DECISIONS.
IT IS NOT: If I do A, B, and C THEN I am guaranteed X, Y, and Z.
If you then say something like, “I was told“
Then find that person, and slap that bitch in the mouth. But ultimately, YOU are responsible for where YOU are right now.
If you can’t comprehend, compounding interest, whether it’s debt or investment, you don’t deserve to be in the United States. And, should give up your spot to somebody who does.
@GoodLuLuHart@yay3d@MVG_Mew2King No contest there. But the level of output and productivity by charitable dollars from corporations and their staff outpaces that of the federal government.
@yay3d@MVG_Mew2King No! I’m with you on this one. But that doesn’t mean that the people inside corporations don’t do massive amounts of good with the help of corporations.
@omgsidewalks Insurance companies are useless middlemen protected by congress. They were made more powerful to the tune of $30 billion when the affordable care act was passed.
Corporations actually do a lot for charity.
They match dollar for dollar contributions to the charities of the employees choice.
They offer paid vacation time to volunteer at charitable organizations.
One might say they’re actually more productive at their giving than the federal government.
