I actually feel bad for nations that are still buying Chinese defenses just bcz its cheap. Pakistan, Venezuela& Iran are already regretting @yeshuaformosa
Former diplomat Charles Burton, Canada’s preeminent scholar on China and a senior fellow at Sinopsis, a China-focused think tank based in Prague, says the hour is much later than most Canadians realize. Burton says Canada is a “bellwether” country in Beijing’s subversion of developed economies. Before Carney’s election, Canada was already the most deeply compromised member of the G7, and since January’s Canada-China strategic partnership was declared, the Chinese Communist Party’s influence operations in this country have expanded exponentially, Burton told me. “By exploiting Canadians’ natural anger over Washington’s betrayal, the CCP have successfully overseen a campaign of calculated deceit. It’s a classic deflection tactic: by keeping the public’s focus squarely on American betrayal, they effectively defuse and neutralize mainstream concerns about the PRC’s own escalating campaign of subversion, espionage, and transnational repression in Canada.” @sinopsiscz@doublethinklab@opibooks

🚨 made-in-China USB drives with China-linked virus 🚨
Japan's Self-Defense Forces used USB drives containing a China-linked virus on computers with access to classified information for nearly a year, then elected not to disclose the matter even though similar memory sticks were widely available online.
The Ground Self-Defense Force used the compromised thumb drives on devices connected to secure systems until they were found in Feb 2025. Multiple safeguards set up to prevent such a cybersecurity breakdown failed.
The virus was discovered after a GSDF member at a regional headquarters in the city of Itami, near Osaka, noticed a computer was operating slowly. An examination of a USB drive that had been inserted into the computer revealed a virus.
An internal investigation uncovered six infected USB drives. Of the roughly 480 computers investigated, more than 50 had been connected to the infected drives at some point.
Nearly half those computers were linked to closed systems that handle highly classified information like unit command and control.

GSDF computer systems are built on the Defense Information Infrastructure used by Japan's Defense Ministry and the SDF. They are divided into open systems that connect to the internet and highly secure closed systems. The two are isolated from each other.
Because standard operations frequently require data to be exchanged between systems, SDF members routinely use USB drives.
A GSDF cybersecurity unit analyzed the USB drives and found them to be counterfeit products made in China. Rather than memory chips, the drives contained cheap, slow microSD cards as a storage medium, some of which harbored the virus.
The computers displayed the drives as having a capacity of 1 terabyte, but their actual capacity was only 240 gigabytes, about a quarter as much.
Internal documents indicate the regional headquarters received these USB drives in March 2024 from Ishikawa prefecture in central Japan, during disaster relief operations following an earthquake on the Noto Peninsula in January that year.
The same virus was detected in six of the eight USB drives obtained at that time. Records of how the drives were procured were reportedly unavailable.
The GSDF normally employs multiple layers of security checks, including virus scans at the time of procurement and during computer use. But because the USB drives were excluded from scans performed by computer security software, the virus went unnoticed for nearly a year after their use began.
"Multiple check systems failed to function. We don't know the details about why the USB drives were excluded from computers' virus scans."

The virus has been identified in a US security company report as having been used in the past by a Chinese hacker group. It infects a computer the moment the USB drive is inserted.
The team that investigated the USB drives indicated in the internal document that similar counterfeit Chinese-made products appear to be widely available on e-commerce sites both in Japan and internationally.
Similar products, including the brand obtained by the GSDF, are sold at nearly half the market price through major online platforms like Amazon and Rakuten Group sites.
Most are made in China, and many buyers claimed in online reviews that they had received counterfeit products. Viruses may be installed when the pirated products are assembled.
Various industries also use USB drives in the same way as the GSDF to transfer data from systems not connected to the internet, including healthcare, education, manufacturing and finance. This makes infected USB drives a cybersecurity risk for wide swaths of society.
Despite being aware that potentially compromised USB drives were available online, the SDF chose not to go public with that information.
“In February 2025, a USB drive acquired by the JGSDF Middle Army headquarters was found to contain malware,” the GSDF public relations office said in a statement.

Chinese malware infects Japanese military classified systems.
Infected USB devices were used by the Japanese military, with up to 50 systems being compromised. The infection was only noticed because one system started running extremely slow. How many other cases like this?
Western media is quietly scrubbing the raw truth about China from your newsfeed, all to keep the CCP happy.
Here is what is actually happening. The CCP is using a devastating silent weapon against global newsrooms: access. If an international news outlet exposes human rights abuses or elite corruption, Beijing threatens to cancel reporter visas and block lucrative corporate profits in the Chinese market.
The concrete evidence is damning. Mega-outlets like Bloomberg have previously spiked deep investigations into the hidden wealth of China's ruling elite just to protect corporate revenue. Networks like the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation were forced to shut down bureaus entirely after Beijing quietly refused to issue visas to their correspondents. Even the BBC’s veteran reporter John Sudworth had to flee to Taiwan following severe safety threats over his coverage of Xinjiang detention camps.
To save their bottom lines, other major networks are folding. They are choosing to engage in what experts call "linguistic laundering," swapping out accurate words like "authoritarian" for harmless euphemisms preferred by Beijing.
University of Alberta Professor Reza Hasmath exposed this systemic blackmail in the current affairs magazine The Diplomat. The data completely backs it up. The Foreign Correspondents’ Club of China, a professional association representing international journalists, reported that an astonishing 98 percent of correspondents say reporting conditions fail to meet international standards, with 86 percent experiencing declined or canceled interviews.
Corporate media is trading accuracy for access, letting an autocratic regime dictate exactly what you are allowed to read.

EU’s Kaja Kallas on China:
From distorting subsidies, growing trade imbalances, and a near monopoly of critical raw materials — the list of issues remains long.
Reducing dependencies with China won't be easy or cheap, but it's necessary and urgent.
We have now verified reports that the Chinese military has been training Russian military personnel to fight in Ukraine.
We are carefully assessing the implications.
Another revealing report by @UNWatch
A 104-page investigation has just been released, showing that the United Nations’ top human rights experts have abandoned the role of independent monitors and are now political activists or corrupt individuals paid by dictatorships to undermine democracies.
The report profiles 13 of the UN Human Rights Council’s Special Rapporteurs. Here are just a couple of examples:
- Reem Alsalem, the UN special rapporteur on violence against women, has refused to acknowledge the October 7th massacre, denied Hamas sexual crimes against Israeli women and amplified Hamas-aligned propaganda.
- Alena Douhan, the UN special rapporteur on the negative impact of unilateral coercive measures, received $1.3 million in funding from China, Russia, and Qatar.
- Ben Saul, the UN special rapporteur on counterterrorism, received $150,000 from China. Though he routinely castigates Western states, he has refused to issue any statements on China’s persecution of the Muslim Uyghurs, which Beijing justifies as “counterterrorism.”
- Tlaleng Mofokeng, the UN special rapporteur on the right to health, said “Hamas are not terrorists,” and endorsed “the legitimacy of armed struggle.”
- Michael Fakhri, the UN special rapporteur on the right to food, accuses Canada of committing genocide. Though Venezuela routinely bars UN monitors, Fakhri was specifically invited for a visit, which he used to lavish praise on the Maduro regime.
- George Katrougalos, a former Greek foreign minister serving as the UN independent expert “on a democratic and equitable international order,” received $100,000 from China in 2025.
In the same year, he promoted Xi Jinping’s book and praised the Chinese dictator’s “vision of openness, development and dialogue” and “shared future for humanity.” He also traveled to Tehran that year, where he met with the regime’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi to jointly lament “Israeli and American crimes.”
- Irene Khan, the UN special rapporteur on freedom of expression, turned a blind eye to gross and systematic violations of free speech by the regimes in Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, and Myanmar, as well as internet shutdowns by Iran and Turkey, yet she devoted an entire UN General Assembly report to condemning Western states for allegedly repressing pro-Palestinian protests.
@unwatch founder @HillelNeuer comments:
“Alena Douhan, the UN special rapporteur on unilateral coercive measures, who defines Western sanctions on dictatorships as illegal, received $1.3 million from China, Russia, and Qatar. No one is even checking how this money is being used.
If a judge took $1.3 million from one of the parties, they would be immediately disqualified and removed from the bench.
If a journalist openly endorsed a terror group on social media, they would be fired on the spot.
Yet the UN’s rapporteurs operate without ethical constraints or consequences — and there’s not even a procedure to remove them. The result is a powerful bloc of compromised officials who enjoy not only diplomatic immunity, but complete impunity”
We are grateful to all the people of Estonia, President @AlarKaris, and First Lady Sirje Karis for their constant and unwavering support for Ukraine and our people. Today in Tallinn, important meetings are planned with all the Nordic and Baltic countries. The main goal is to secure more strength to protect our people, as well as to prepare for the negotiations and decisions we all expect from the European Union, G7, and NATO summits.
The First Lady’s agenda includes taking part in the expansion of the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies, the opening of a Ukrainian-language audio guide in Estonia, and a meeting with representatives of the Estonian Center for International Development to implement joint projects in support of Ukrainian families.
We appreciate the solidarity of Estonia and all our partners who help Ukraine withstand and bring a just peace closer. We thank everyone who supports us.

Today is Estonia’s Flag Day.
Our blue-black-white flag tells the story of a nation that chose freedom and refused to give it up. Today, we celebrate that story — and the freedom it represents.
Minister of Defense Antti Häkkänen said last week that Finland is seriously considering joining the French nuclear weapons initiative.
Now, Prime Minuster Orpo, who is visiting France and met with Macron yesterday, said that Finland is willing to join France's nuclear deterrent with other Nordic countries.

On June 4th, 1989, the CCP brutally massacred students gathered in Tiananmen Square. The communists in Beijing then tried to cover up their crimes.
We will never forget.
Rep. Keating to Rubio: "I'm sure you're aware that Ukraine, country that at the time had third-largest nuclear arsenal, peacefully turned over their nuclear weapons in conjunction with Budapest Memorandum.
And in exchange for U.S. commitment to defend Ukraine if it ever came under threat. The U.S. gave its word to Ukraine that it would defend them.
And I find this amazing. In your opening remarks, as you took us all over the world and mentioned 15 different incidents where you have interceded — 15, the top 15 — not once did you mention Ukraine when you were prioritizing achievements that are there."
Reporting from the Financial Times on Xinjiang remains incredibly grim:
* In some areas, 90% of children are taken from parents to be educated in boarding schools where they aren't allowed to speak Uyghur
* Officials monitor who eats during Ramadan and report those who skip meals
* Basic items like prayer mats and religious text are considered illegal contraband
* Adult Uyghur women are pressured to marry Han Chinese men, and there are official goals to sterilize a certain % of them.
* Xinjiang has the largest prison capacity in the world relative to population
* Huge numbers of Uyghur prisoners are now being shipped across the country in forced labor schemes, as a way to dodge Xinjiang sanctions/boycotts
* The CCP shut down all 10 existing Uyghur-language publishers, none remain. They fed one university's book collection into a shredder.
There's a lot going on the world, but it's worth remembering that China is still actively engaged in cultural genocide. They're barely even hiding it, they openly talk about the need to 'correct' Uyghur culture and create 'ethnic unity'. They are openly destroying an entire culture as efficiently as they can, cutting children off from parents, restricting language, restricting religious practice, forcing sterilizations and intermarriage, imprisoning anyone who resists the tiniest amount and shipping them out to forced labor factories. That is what the CCP is.

Beijing hasn't stopped its campaign to destroy the Uyghur people; it has simply evolved the cruelty into a permanent, calculated prison state. Daniel Twining, the sanctioned President of the International Republican Institute, has spotlighted a devastating Financial Times visual investigation by Alison Killing that exposes the regime’s terrifying new phase of total assimilation.
The investigation details how mass internment has transitioned into an inescapable, high-tech dragnet designed to systematically dismantle families and culture from the inside out:
A Vast Penal Empire: The analysis mapped 579 active detention compounds with a staggering capacity to hold 627,000 people, meaning nearly 1 in 40 residents in the region are trapped in the world's largest detention system relative to population.
Systemic Railroad Judgments: Between 2017 and 2022, China executed over 578,000 official state prosecutions in Xinjiang under a near-100% conviction rate to secure long-term imprisonment for hundreds of thousands.
Stolen Children: In certain southern counties, up to 90% of Uyghur children, including preschoolers, have been separated from their parents and forced into state-run, Mandarin-only boarding schools where their native language and books are actively destroyed.
Industrial Coercion: Adults are funneled into state-supervised forced labor transfers, shipping them to factories across central and eastern China to manufacture electronics, automotive parts, and garments under intense ideological monitoring.
The Human Cost: The report highlights the agonizing reality through individuals like entrepreneur Ekpar Asat, who was left unrecognizably thin after years in isolation and was only permitted brief, heavily monitored prison visits conducted strictly in Mandarin.
While social media apologists and state trolls aggressively attempt to deflect by calling these facts Western propaganda or drawing false equivalencies to other global conflicts, the hard data and satellite evidence reveal a chilling truth. The Chinese Communist Party is methodically erasing an entire identity.

Watch UN Watch Executive Director Hillel Neuer completely dismantle the illusion of United Nations neutrality in this shocking interview. The very watchdogs tasked with protecting global human rights have been exposed as paid apologists for the world's most brutal regimes.
In this brief clip, Neuer lays out the devastating evidence of how top UN experts, who are routinely quoted by mainstream media, are quietly pocketing massive payouts from authoritarian governments. He highlights a counterterrorism expert who took $150,000 from Beijing and fell completely silent on the mass internment of Uyghur Muslims, alongside another official who accepted $1.3 million to actively praise and shield dictatorships.
The institutional capture is deep, the bias is extreme, and Western democracies are being urged to stop legitimizing this compromised system. Watch the full video below to see the terrifying reality of how global immunity is being bought and sold at the highest levels.
