"I am on 7 months without a salary, on the verge of financial ruin, at the mercy of landlords and creditors. No Board has removed me as the CEO yet the World Bank are just sitting there, driving me to the verge of a mental breakdown. All so that they can take control of the Board and acquire the company at a depressed price. Employees are praying and fasting daily wondering when the siege will end."
— Sam Gikandi, Co-Founder & CEO, Africa's Talking

Spent time with early-stage innovators —listening to pitches, dissecting business models, and whiteboarding scalable solutions.
The engagement highlighted the immense, untapped talent with a potential to drive Africa’s fintech and web3 ecosystems. From dynamic asset management platforms to digital infrastructure, the sheer ingenuity on display reinforced our core conviction at #BetOnBlack: when you pair visionary high-growth founders with targeted capital, strategic mentorship, and institutional support, the potential for continent-wide economic transformation is limitless.

The NITA Bill is still a draft. It has not passed Parliament. That means there is still time. But if it passes as written, it will be one of the most damaging things Ghana has done to its own tech sector. Here is why this is personal for me:
Talking inclusive & embedded finance, borderless payments, license passports, regulatory frameworks, and SMB access to credit at this year’s edition of the 3i Africa Summit.

The 3i Africa Summit offered invaluable insights from the regulators and stakeholders building Africa’s fintech futures. It facilitated engagements with partners and innovators, emerging technologies, regulations/ frameworks for borderless payments, and the infrastructure to ensure trust and scalability.
Thankfully Africa’s resilient fintech future is being engineered through an ecosystem built on meaningful partnerships, inclusive innovation, and sustainable impact. This is with the synergy of investment and the rails to protect populations yet promote innovation.
The event underscored the vital role of startups like @getseesail in inclusive financing; connecting SMBs to capital and facilitating cross-border trade.

At the launch of the Bicycle Education Empowerment Programme (BEEP) a public-private partnership investing in both human capital and domestic production.
By locally assembling 20,000 bicycles annually through TVET hubs, the BEEP program will slash commute times for rural students, many of whom walk over 5km daily by 75%.
Beyond keeping students especially girls in school this initiative also reduces Ghana’s reliance on 700,000 annual bike imports by equipping a TVET workforce with high-demand manufacturing and assembly skills.
From healthcare delivery to logistics, the use cases for these bikes are endless.
Congrats to Gerald Acheampong and the Trans Sahara Industries team for the initiative
