Have a safe and happy Fourth of July! We're looking forward to hosting Museum Members tonight at our Independence Day Celebration. (The Museum is not open today for general admission tours.)
#didyouknow The first Independence Day Celebration was held in 1777. The largest celebration that year took place in Philadelphia, and included an official dinner attended by the Continental Congress, a 13-gun salute, bell ringing, orations, and fireworks displays.
Happy #4thofJulyWeekend! Take a patriotic stroll down our south sidewalk today through July 4 and view the 50 flags representing each state in the order they joined the Union, as well as flags representing each branch of the American armed services.
