Very disappointed in @POTUS for not lifting the #CovidTravelTax that is pre-departure testing. It is a huge burden for working-class families visiting relatives in Latin America and Canada. It is not a progressive or democratic policy.

@Madmanwithclass @palan57 That's a good point-my children have only been to 1 school. Sincere question: why isn't every child at every school acing these tests? I'm not a teacher, but it can't just be classroom time spent on test prep that is causing kids to fail state tests.That doesn't make sense to me.

@palan57 I used to believe the "standardized tests are killing learning" narrative before my kids started taking them. If there are schools where kids are spending weeks studying for state tests every year, there is something very wrong with the school, not the tests.

@palan57 There was no test prep for math tests. And there was no ELA test prep except 3rd grade (the first year they did state tests). It's just a good school where kids learn. 99% of the kids in my kids school pass the state tests.

These students are not being served by being in a classroom with 30 other students and one teacher. They need more personalized help. Obviously it was wrong how we used to treat disruptive children in the past (warehousing and forgetting about them)
